2011 model. CNDC 2.0T engine. Yes the car also had the oil consumption issue. Spoke to the workshop tech and he explained to me that Audi Germany has a scope of work for the engine if it comes in with this spesific issue and told me not to worry. Once done it's almost new.

As I drive out the garage, the idling is rough - worse than it was. So I turned back and a pipe had popped off. They put it back and 90% better.

I leave for the office 7km away and the car gets worse and worse... I make 5km before it splutters to a stop. Engine light flashing.

Open bonnet and oil everywhere... So stuck on the side of the road again. My guess is piston or cylinder again.

PS Yesterday drove straight to them because I knew something was up. If your own car, you're very sensitive to everything it does. Shudder at idle was so slight they couldn't really pick it up

Sounds like my bike.

I knew months ago there was a bigger problem as I'm the one who rides it every day.

Mechanic didn't hear/feel anything told me all normal.

Then the oil light came on. Pressure test, no problem it's just the sensor.

Order new one. Bike starts making more and more funny noises and doesn't feel right.

Take back to fit sensor...light stays on. Told mechanic there is a vibration on throttle at 5000rpm.

Now it's been in the workshop for almost three months having slipped big end bearings and pretty much every other component is ****ed because of that.

But what did I know...

It wasn't model-wide, it was a batch. The programmes have been put in place to resolve for the affected engines.

Probably for the same reason there was never a recall on the 2003/4 multitronic gearboxes. Too expensive. As issues arose they got fixed. My late uncle had his multitronic gearbox fixed after just 20 000km. I've had issues with mine on 3 occasions now. ECU @ R23k a pop.

About R4,500 each. Pretty confident they'll give you more life than the Dunlop TTs, and there are many other good reasons to go for them (a premium/high quality tyre).

I can vouch for the Goodyears if you're wanting to spend a bit less. Good price here - http://www.errolstyres.co.za/tyre/goodyear/eagle-f1-asymmetric-2/7910/529664.

Tyre opinions will always differ, but you'll find the general consensus to be Goodyear Eagle F1s or Michelin Pilots (there are a few).
