The Audi Thread

Yes you can buy it up front. It goes up depending on the age and km's.

I am extending my plan this week and here are the prices I was quoted taking into consideration that my car is 6 years old with 113 000 km on the clock.

1 Year no additional km's - R14 733
1 Year 30k additional km's - R33 999
1 Year 60k additional km's - R61 594

How does no additional kilometres work?

Oh it’s while you are still inside the original 100k.

Of course if you don’t use the dealer it’s all half of that if not more.

Can confirm, just replaced front brakes and pads, R 2800 from Goldwagen. Rears are R 1750. Price does fluctuate between brands of course, and this is without labour costs.

This is on a 2014 A4 TDI (B8)

I (ages ago) purchased a AMI to 3.5mm jack from bidorbuy and it works well enough. On the long road I create a wifi hotspot in my car and use an old cellphone in the cubby and spotify connect to control the audio.

This has the benefit of listening to music via aux, and answering calls as normal on Bluetooth, the downside is if I lose signal the music goes.

I am thinking of getting this from takealot and trying it out.

linky

I have also seen a mod where someone ran the 3.5mm AMI cable into the centre console and then used a similar device, the benefit of that option is that the device can stay charged using the cigarette lighter port in there. I do think the sound might be a muffled when trying to use the mic though.

Cool, well let us know how it goes if you do buy it

Why not use one of those Bluetooth to 3.5mm headphone jack dongles to plug into the Aux?

I've used 2 and they work fine, batteries last for a good while and you can charge them via a car charger. Only issue is some of them get noisy when you use them while charging but other than that they work fine. Most have at least a play/pause/answer button and mic and some have media controls.

No aux on mine, only aux via AMI.

So I just went ahead with one of these https://www.takealot.com/viseeo-wma3000a-tune2air/PLID49377917 they are very expensive but after reading lots of reviews on it seems like it is a best option if you want bluetooth music easily. Only downside is it doesn't show song names with Android, but at least can control the music from the dash and steering wheel controls. Hopefully should arrive tomorrow and will see how it works.

That sounds better, let us know if it works for you.

Considering how well it integrates it's pretty good value. Beats having to go to all the pita of getting a whole new aftermarket headunit and the slackers that fit it butchering your wiring loom.

That's why I went ahead with it. Only arriving tomorrow but will feedback once tested it

Ok doff question, I have a factory fitted iPod dock in my glove compartment, 2010 Audi A3. Is there perhaps an AMI port behind it somewhere?

Connected the device and works great. Sound quality is very good, can change songs via the car controls, so very happy with it. I knew the song names wouldn't show with Android but don't mind that too much, would definitely recommend.

Can anyone recommend a company that can change DRL leds on the B8.5 platform? Head unit needs to be opened.
