The Audi Thread

Also remember that most of the VAG cars using the 3.0TDi use a torque converter based automatic gearbox and not a dual clutch.
if it says tiptronic then its torque converter, s-tronic is dual clutch, multitronic is CVT.

My 3.0tdi 180kW 500nm (preDPFdelete probably more like 200kW 650nm now) is s-tronic.

You can watch some common issues and repair bill on that video
It actually was not bad given the age and the previous owner didnt treat it well

I think he did clutch , valve cover gaskets, sand blasting the ports and that was it
goes to show even with abuse these cars are still a good value for money

Holy fk that’s a lot of car for the money and minty as well.
How reliable is that V8 motor, any known issues like timing chains or similar?
These didnt suffer from the timing chain or the guide issues if I remember correctly the B6/7 4.2 did this is the B8

So I was thinking today, it been 2 years with my C7.5 3.0Tdi A6 ownership , just hit the 150 000km mark when I got the car it was 120 000km full service history with the dealer. I did an oil change last year at ulimate motorpsort in Pretoria because RMI for warranty, this year I serviced it myself and I have to say in the 2 years I never had to top up oil in between services on my BMWs it was the norm to top up every 1000km - its strange not having to do that with an Audi

Ultimate Motorsport invoice shows Shell 5W40 didnt state, mineral or syntheic
When I did my own service I used Liqui Moly full synthetic that green one 5W40 as well, I wanted 0W40 goldwagen didnt carry it, I thought 0W40 would be easier on the chain rattle at start up as it should be a little thinner - but settled for the 5W40
