The Bafana Bafana Thread

Game kicks off at 18:00, crazy dude

This is from Supersport, posted yesterday:

Fears about energy sapping heat have seen South Africa put back the kick off of Saturday’s international against Algeria from an mid-afternoon start to the evening.

The game at the Orlando Stadium will now begin at 8:15pm (CAT, GMT +2), moved from the original kick off time of 3:30pm.

Supersport

Supersport also have the match scheduled for HD4 at 20:00.

Strange things are afoot then, their iOS guide showed the game at 18:00 and SABC radio is advertising 17:30 all day.

Zambia vs Norway is on at the moment. I just checked DSTv's tv guide and i-plate, and both have the match at 20:15.

0-0 at full time. Not an inspiring showing, but Algeria are are a very good side. Only 13 000 in the crowd tonight.

– Welcome to MTNFootball for tonight's FIFA International friendly match between South Africa and Algeria at the Orlando Stadium.

I'm still not seeing a proper game plan by GI. Going 2 games without scoring, just before a tournament is a disaster. I can only hope that somehow in the next week he can get the team to work properly.

I think Gordon should spend the rest of the week making the players learn how to score, taking shots on goal at various angles, scenarios, etc. That must be all they do between today and that first game.

I wanted to go watch it, but decided to sleep. Good decision it seems.

Gordon claims he's withholding his tactics and strategies from his rivals. I agree with what 13 rands said.

Some good news before the tournament gets started:

South Africa have moved up two places to 85th in the latest Fifa world rankings, released on Thursday, two days before the Africa Cup of Nations opening match.

Cape Verde Islands, their opponents in the January 19 opener at National Stadium, have dropped a single spot to 70th.
