The Banting/LCHF Thread

I'm going to doc on Monday, getting my cholesterol and sugar levels checked. Did so just before I started banting. Cholesterol was sitting at 7.2, so let's see what Monday brings :)

I regret not testing my stuff before I started, would have been interesting to see how they changed.

In other news: avocado pears. Delicious, creamy, buttery avocado pears

But cholesterol is almost irrelevant now. Cholesterol is at the scene of the crime, it is not the cause. In short, how I understand it, carbs causes inflammation, which create a situation where the cholesterol attaches to the arteries. We should blame the inflammation, not the cholesterol.

Indeed, wife and I are increasing our avo consumption, half of one with supper ( small one ).

your average joe in the street as well as some doctors still don't understand this

Well the thing is this way when a doctor/nurse/dietician moans at you when you tell them what your diet is you can just show them your cholesterol levels (whether they are the culprit or not) and then they shut up or change their tune. Much simpler than a long debate

According to their twitter handle, Lindt is launching 99% this month

Who is brave enough to try it? I will!

They said it will be supplied to selected grocery stores..... I'm going to keep checking PnP online - once they stock it for online orders will have a local store search done to see who has in stock.

Will keep you posted.

That's what I do with cream cheese and/or mascarpone, add crushed almonds, crushed Lindt 85/90%, add cinnamon, nutmeg and a drop or two of vanilla essence, mix well, and leave it in the fridge to set.

I Love avo. Always have. Never used to buy them though cause never knew how to check if they are ripe, but now I buy the ones that you get in the packets that says they are ripe (and not to press on them). Have half a Avo almost every night now....sometimes even a whole one. So yummy with eggs.

true. i still just want to see how it has changed.

Gosh. Chocolates, double cream, mascarpone, wors.....but heaven forbid you eat a potato.
It doesn't make sense to me. How long can one stay on this diet? Also, does it not perhaps damage your kidneys/liver in the long term?
