The Banting/LCHF Thread

I don't have a big issue with the science behind Banting. What worries me is the constipation.
You people honestly not struggle with it?
Only time I have constipation problems is when I'm transitioning to/from low-carb to a normal diet. No problems when I'm properly on either diet. Eating lots of veggies: cauli, broccoli, spinach, baby marrow, cabbage etc with everyone meal, as well as lots of double cream yoghurt and coffee with cream. I've heard that psyllium husk also helps.

Edit: Also water. Lots and lots of water

Yeah I hear you - over R5 a slice :-/

Just smashed 2 sliced of that Woolies bread with chicken mayo on. Tasted good but when I toasted the slices, everyone in the office moaned as the linseed has that typical fishy smell. It doesn't bother me so I told them to sod off and go eat some sugar!
It's been a while since I had almond flour bread with [-]peanut[/-] macadamia nut butter *sighs* Sometimes you just want a good ol' sandwich

Tons of water and snacking on seeds and nuts and psyllium husk and no poopoo issues you will have :D

And if all else fails...there is always Caring Candies. Sugar and Carb free, but they can give you some mild diarrhoea if you should over indulge. Its a win-win combination. :)

Just come back from Spur: took my 4yo there for her birthday lunch. Without thinking I ordered a JonLee diet coke which for those unaware, is a large diet coke with lemon juice. When I drank it, it was very sweet.

The bill showed 2x tots of lime cordial - I was going to google how much sugar that made me injest but my current headache is telling me TOO MUCH!

That is the most sugar I have had in months and I am feeling tired and sluggish. If ever I needed a reminder how bad sugar is, I just got it.

Good on Sandwich Baron, those lunch options look pretty nice! Used to be one of my favourite lunch spots, especially whenever the work cafeteria was serving terrible stuff. Looking back at the stuff we got for lunch, no wonder I got so fat and fell ill regularly. Hindsight is always always an exact science!

I made a shrimp dish last night, fried in butter and garlic, with mushroom and topped off with feta and self made mayo. It was divine!!
Woke up at about 2 with a cold fever, shivering and started vomiting everywhere, this went on till 5 worst day ever :(

Can anyone provide me with the name of a "light" tasting olive oil suitable for making mayonnaise ?

Including the name of a supplier (in Johannesburg) would make definitely make my day.
