The Banting/LCHF Thread

So...

I have been banting for 3 weeks. Down 10kg+/- and now stabilized.

165kg >> 154/155kg no more movement.

I have had 0 sugar 0 bread(group)

Stuck to the green list only.

Any tips on how to speed up the loss again? I need to shed another 5kg to get on the scale at home, that has been my first goal, not to have to weigh myself at work with a ****ty oldschool weighed scale.

If I could just get on the scale and be less than 150 I will be completely re motivated.

it's a marathon, not a sprint, don't stress just keep doing what you're doing, you're going to go through phases of plateauing as your body constantly adjusts

Don't panic, keep doing what you are doing. I found I plateaued every now and then but it does eventualy start dropping again. Also there's no quick fix and I think rapid weight loss would be worse in the long run as a shock to the system. As long as you don't put on, it will drop.

Also maybe re-examine your diet, maybe something has crept in with hidden carbs\sugars.

I have decreased my portions now and increased my fat intake %,
Also drinking about 3litres of water daily, I just cannot do any more or I will feel like a dam.

Made waffles from ground sunflower seeds this morning

They came out great, sturdy enough to sandwich bacon and cheese between them without breaking, no crumbliness, but still soft and chewy (almost like real bread!). The ingredients are also much cheaper: no R350/kg almond flour, no coconut flour, no cream cheese.

On the negative side, they're much much more dense (and less airy) than bread, they feel more "heavy" (not sure how to explain it). And between the 4 waffle squares (2 sammiches) they're something like 14g of carbs, so that's half the day's quota gone if you want to safely stay in ketosis. So, not an every day thing, but will probably become a weekly affair.

share the recipe plz ... would love waffies for the weekend little extra cinnamon and xyl!

you could also try intermittent fasting, apparently that can help, never tried it myself so it's not something I've studied a lot

have a look at the amounts of food you consume... you still want to try and eat a little less... consuming less calories

make sure you drink enough water... or only water if you want to keep losing.

but as OMB said... just keep trucking

Recipe? Why don't u just put 2 waffles in the plate and out the bacon and stuff on that? Why must it be a sandwich? Only 7g carbs then.
The recipe I used came out to 4 waffles, I could have kept half for tomorrow but where's the fun in that? :D

I used this recipe with all the quantities halved, and just threw it into the waffle iron as per the waffle iron's instructions instead of in a bread loaf pan in the oven

Only substitute I made was subbing "sunbutter" for normal butter

These photos are from a previous attempt. As you can see they still look more like wholegrain/seed loaf. They're definitely more savoury than sweet. For dessert waffles I think the cream cheese ones work out better

Haha :D I admit it doesn't look appetizing at all. Only reason I tried it was because I was looking for alternatives to almond and coconut flour and flax seed

Hi guys, I have been on lchf for about a month now.
I managed to lose 5kgs which is awesome however my cholesterol increased from 4.8 to 6.3.

Should I be overly concerned?

My daily eating consists of:
Breakfast - 2 fried eggs, half an avo and some mozzarella.
Cup of coffee with full cream milk no sugar.
Lunch - piece of protein (chicken, fish or beef) lots of vegetables and olive oil drizzled over.
Cup of coffee with full cream milk no sugar.
Post gym I would snack on some almonds and biltong.
Supper would be similar to lunch.
Evening snack a block of 80% lindt chocolate.

I'm really enjoying not eating any processed food.

Any advice would be welcomed.

If your triglycerides level is below 1.3, eat and be merry. Total cholesterol means jack.
