The Banting/LCHF Thread

We do Zucchini bolognaise quite often.

Important thing is to just very quickly boil the Zucchini otherwise they get mushy. And leave them to drain for 2 or 3 minutes before serving to drain some water.

Man the week has only begun and I'm already thinking of a cheat meal.....I need carbs dammit CARBS

Just had a Banting pizza from Colcachios. Margerita with onions, mushroom and chilli. Was frikken amazing. Pizza is a bit small but it comes with a side salad, and I can honestly say that I am quite satisfied after that meal.

Are there any places that sell cauliflower bases ready made?

I know .. but.. when I get home from work.. i would like the convenience of just adding toppings and popping in the oven for a few minutes.

Make it in bulk and store it. My fiancee makes caulirice, and when we have curries just defrosts it, and lightly toasts it in a pan with some butter.

Snack - quiche?

So decided to make this snack for breakfast on the go.

Base is Califlower. Tasted like quiche, was tasty.

Next time will add spring onion and some ham.

Was simple and quick.

As far as I'm aware Process meats are bad, right? Is Ham not a processed meat? Or is there a certain type of ham that is better to use?

Dont know, not really following any strict guidelines.... I know the problem with processed meat is the salt but that could be solved by a hot bath? If not, will use bacon :)

@xcaliber chicken curry? served with? need.more.recipes! :D

Not really sure? Sister in law made it. Think it was a normal chicken curry. Replaced bread with lettuce leaves though.

The problem with processed meats is that you don't know what has been added. The salt is fine, it's sugar and other stuff introduced during the curing/cooking process that will mess you up.

@xcalibur - Don't eat the breast, that's the worst part :p

Depends where you're buying it from. And if they're accurate.

Well, if you put it like that... :D

Nah, the breast is the leanest, least flavourful, and usually most dry piece on the chicken. I prefer thighs.
