The Banting/LCHF Thread

Where do you guys get the Greek Yoghurt. The double cream plain stuff at Pick n Pay, Woolies and Checkers has too many carbs in, imo. What's the carb/sugar content of proper greek yoghurt?

Saw a sign up at Woolworths that they renamed greek to double cream and bulgarian to low fat or something due to new Government regulations.

question.

and please don't shout at me. i'm just asking to understand.

drinking. alcohol. whiskey.

why is this bad for ketosis?

It's not.

It's if you have sugary mixers ... and also alcohol may lower your resistance to temptation of carbs.

Your body will burn the alcohol as fuel before it burns ketones, but it won't affect your insulin

So on the rocks or with water. Hide the chips and peanuts. Got it. Thanks.

Alcohol ups your insulin and lowers blood sugar AFAIK.

If you are at a function and have to drink alcohol, whiskey is the one to go for. Choose rocks and water. You can have soda water, but remember that the CO2 in soda raises acidity in the body - I avoid due to being a gout sufferer.

As mentioned above, body will burn the calories from the alcohol in the whiskey, then switch back to ketones

I must be special then.

I'm very sensitive to low blood sugar. Alcohol certainly does not trigger it in me.

All in all, moderate alcohol probably has more benefits than not, but certainly not all alcoholic drinks.

Eish... Genes or diet?
