The Banting/LCHF Thread

Anyone tried Col'Cacchio's banting friendly pizza, I had one a few hours ago (foresta) and is is fantastic, very rich. The base is made of cauliflower, topings was salami, black mushroom, garlic, green pepper, feta.

Try our innovative range of low carb, high fat pizzas. The perfect way to keep you on track if you’re following a banting friendly lifestyle. The base is a smaller 21cm base made of cauliflower, psyllium husks, egg, parmesan and seasoning. Served with a side salad of lettuce, carrots, cucumber, egg, parmesan and radish.

Always good to be prepared. Freezer stuff which I stocked up this morning:
Blocks of butter for cooking and eating
Hamburger patties from a trusted butcher - quick defrost and fry for supper
Pork rashers in set quantities - easy to defrost and cook for supper
250g packs of streaky bacon from trusted butcher: because bacon goes with everything

Anybody in cape town with a trusted butcher?

Yeah I really didn't like the Col'Cacchio's base when I tried it. Chewy is the word I'd use for these prepared low-carb bases.

Cheesecake and tiramisu are (relatively) easy to adapt to low carb. 85%+ dark chocolate is okay in small quantities. And macadamia and almond butter are nice peanut butter/Nutella substitutes (depending on your personal taste, of couse).

I have been put off banting pizza. I have tried from two different places now and every time the base is soggy and floppy. Have to eat with knife and fork. It is also like a extra R25.00 for a banting base ... and I am not willing to extra for a soggy pizza. Bleh.

I will then rather have a cheat day every now and then and get a normal pizza.
