The Banting/LCHF Thread

What do you guys put in your tea/coffee..? Just normal full cream milk or cream?

Cream, no sugar

I always subscribed to the whole "cream instead of full cream milk" idea, until I looked at the calories. As long as you don't pour too much milk in, I prefer to stick to milk because of how fewer calories milk has over cream. If you doing LCHF for weight loss, it only works because of a calorie reduction/deficit. Adding extra calories into my cups of coffee now seems foolish and I was doing the cream thing for years before I changed.

True, carb count to stay in keto, calorie count to make sure you lose weight.

I've taken a liking to unsweetened almond milk. Woolworths and Dischem Lifestyle is the best tasting. Something about the Blue Diamond ones just doesn't taste as good.

Mainly because I use it for my protein shakes so I just started replacing the splash of milk with a splash of almond milk.

I use the lactose free milk from Woolworths. Lowest sugar portion I have seen and still tastes good.

Use it mostly for chai tea and protein shakes.

Hey guys, haven't been on here for a while. I hit 81.5Kg today. 13.5 Kg lost since April. My weight loss has slowed down a lot but I am not fazed as it is because I have put on a lot of muscle. Feeling great. !

Key to awesomeness, is Keto + Yoga! Loving this new lifestyle.

Been strict, keeping to under 25g of carbs a day a never a cheat day or second.

Also, found 1kg of almonds at dis-chem for R189.00 Pretty good price if you ask me!

Very nice, but at 81.5 kg do you still need to lose weight?
Also doing strict green list for now as weight plateaued for about a month but a tad away from 81.5:(

My target weight is around 78Kg. I still have some fat to lose. I am also not that tall. I am about 175cm.

Once I hit 80kg, I will reasses if 78kg still makes sense.

I dropped to 105kg but then went off the wagon and up to 119kg, was then bribed big time to get to 99kg and at the moment at 113.3kg which is still 23kg down from my worst but I need to get to 99kg around October.
Its not an issue eating the right things its just that the crap is sooo much better, but the bribe is worth the pain:D

Would love to know what the bribe is ;)

oh nothing that would excite you.....
I want to do the Everest trek in December and the only way someone agreed to join me was if I get to 99kg and as I really really really but really want to go even though some aspects of the trip scare the **** out of me, I have to lose the weight.

Yeah that one, the 16 day EBC trek.
Pity about going in December as going to be a tad coldish at -10 - 15, but its the only time we can go.

Anyhow the weekly hikes in preparation and green list banting should get to the target weight, only 14.3kgs to go

I would highly recommend, high altitude acclimitasation. Before your trip go to JHB if you don't already live there and get your haemoglobin count up. Then go climbing.

I live up here and hike regularly in the Magaliesberg and will do some Drakensberg hiking around September.

Just a heads up, I've been enjoying the Woolies Carb Clever bars as a quick snack. I think they're worth it when they're on special (R40 for 4, so R10 each), but slightly overpriced at R15 normally.

They're currently on special. I like the Almond, Pecan & Macadamia Bar.
