The Banting/LCHF Thread

I doubt this will be very popular but has anyone tried LCHFV where "V" stand for vegetarian?

Works if you include cheese and eggs.

Keto vegan is rubbish though. Tofu for dinner every day.

Yeah. Not going to give up my pork neck steaks or eisbeins. Nope. Never.

But I can see fat macros being done easily with nuts, cheese and avo. Protein macros might be a bit of challenge but if you are not working out regularly it probably won't be an issue.

I'm sure macro goals can be reached but what a misery to get there...

Try the keto reddit group. There is a keto vegan subreddit.

Thanks will do.

LOL don't kick a man when he's down. I'm facing a life without biltong. Have a heart.

Exactly, I can't imagine how miserable it must get.

I have decided to try Intermittent Fasting instead of LCHF. Hello potato things, pastas and artisan breads!

I fast every Monday .... muffin before 9 at the latest and then 24 hours. Surprisingly it's not even a chore anymore, I get by pretty easy but those first 3 or 4 weeks were painful :D

At the very least cut out pasta and bread. Keep on eating the potato and sweet potato, do intermittent fasting, and cut out pasta and bread. And sugar of course.

Potato at least has some goodness in it, namely fibre, resistant starch and potassium. Pasta and bread have no goodness in them. Just carbs.

Fully.

Banting bread and pasta can do you well enough to never have the bad pasta and bread, don't do it!

Thanks for the suggestions, obviously doing both would be very effective but I just want to have some kind of enjoyment at meal times or when out with pals.

I am going 'eat whatever' but strict IF for now and I'll dial back from there based on results.

If you're doing it to control insulin response then the carbs are just going to **** with you. Are pre-diabetic or diabetic?

Peanut butter bread! Simplest thing ever and best bread yet. Especially topped with cheese, bacon , some chives , maybe sour cream.........

I f I want to up my carbs a little, fruit salad is my go to.

Works if I do it at or after dinner. Never works if I do it earlier, since I get a sugar crash.

Sour cream and a sprinkle of pink salt .... people look at me like I'm a weirdo when I do that

Avo's already falling off my tree. Sucks that I'm allergic to them and can only eat the Haas avo's :(

Just checking in to say thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum. I have learned a lot from you.

I've lost 10 kgs since November 2017, with very little exercise and by simply watching those carbs.

My best find and special treat so far: WW sugar-free ginger beer!

Almost 4 years worth of info....wow

I want to start this. Can someone direct me to a few links of where to start please

Will be using it in combination with weight training, need to loose couple kg and get some muscle building going again

Thx a lot guys
