Yeah, check the FAQ at reddit.com/r/keto. They sometimes come across as a bunch of over-zealous fatties, but they’ve got all the details.

Thanks For the link and link on reddit

Makes is easier as to which sites to trust and spend time reading that will be meaningful

It's really not rocket science. Keep off carbs except for fibrous veg, work out your TDEE and use a keto calculator. Watch your macros, and use MyFitnessPal.

Easy peasy, you'll be feeling like a champ in no time.

Oh and if you want to lift, make sure to check out /r/ketogains as well.

We do not! :D

And thats ex-fatties. :p

:D They taught me every thing I know! Just get a bit too much for me sometimes, when they admonish people for eating a pineapple or sweet potato.

Just checking in to say thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum. I have learned a lot from you.

I've lost 10 kgs since November 2017, with very little exercise and by simply watching those carbs.

My best find and special treat so far: WW sugar-free ginger beer!

Isn’t sucralose not good and interferes with the body going into ketosis . If not then I am going to get some today

I found this

*snip*
Ingredients wise it looks similar to the low carb granola that Woolies sells. Has that really satisfying crunchy texture that you miss on LCHF but (unsurprisingly) it's ridiculously expensive. Goes really well with double cream yoghurt too. Gotta be careful though, the carbs add up fast, especially when you go for second helpings, and third helpings and...

Hahah, ja.

Ja that packet was more expensive than ww's one. Crazy

Starting my 1st day today

How long does body take to get into ketosis, 2 - 3 days?

Yeah i would say about 2-3 days if you consume almost 0 carbs (under 20) with normal eating patterns.

or do a quick 24hr fast. Eat your last meal at dinner tonight, eat your next meal at dinner time tomorrow, go exercise before dinner while in a fasted state, drink 3ltrs of water. Sure ketosis :p :)

Yeah, 2 or 3 days. But if it's your first time it takes a little longer to get fully 'fat-adapted' and start benefitting from higher energy levels.

If you start getting headaches in the first few days, increasing your salt/electrolyte intake helps. Chicken broth, gherkins, olives, or just salt mixed in water.

Make your own, cheaper healthier. I tend to be totally against off the shelf bantint products, over priced and sometimes sketchy.

Side note, if you want a fatty filler with veggies as a side to main meal, my goto is fresh spinach sauteed in a pan and a round of feta thrown in. So much gooey goodness, salt and all :D
