R60 a pop, but yes good. Smear some cream cheese on

I have been off the banting wagon for about a year now and have been steadily gaining weight again. This morning I decided to go back to the lifestyle.
I want to lose 5 kg and the only way I can do it is on banting.
Do any of you have a carb up or reset day every 2 or 3 weeks?
Welcome back, good luck and enjoy the baconI have been off the banting wagon for about a year now and have been steadily gaining weight again. This morning I decided to go back to the lifestyle.

It's not going to be worth it to go half in half out with banting. They can concentrate on cutting out sugar and reducing portion sizes. Not quite banting, but thought this the best place to ask.
A friend want to get her partner to eat more healthy, slowly but surely get him on to banting actually, but for now he is not convinced or willing to go in full so she's doing baby steps just to get him to eat more healthy for now.
What healthy alternatives are their for these packets of sauces, stock and soup which are used for example to make a sauce to put over rice? I'm sure there are a lot of preservatives and crap in those packets which you just mix with water or milk.

For now my advice to her was.
1. Start cutting sugar.
2. Start cutting startches as much as possible, bread, pasta etc.
3. Start looking at condiments and sauces which they use, a lot of crap in Aromat for example.
4. Look in to more freshly made food rather than processed stuff.
All good. Also upping the veggie intake is usually good advice.
Olive oil is a good substitute for sauces in some dishes. Or a mix of olive oil, tomato puree, and garlic.
She's already on the right track, have a couple of good ideas, but she spesifically asked me about the sauce for his rice. If they for example eat chicken, salid/vedge and rice for dinner then he wants a sauce over his rice. Where she would usually use one of those packets and mix with water, now she wants a more healthy solution.
whatever there is in the sauce, the rice is worse... if you want to cut out the bad stuff, leave out the rice and let him drink the sauce.
Sounds like me, pre-BantingProblem is finding a suitable replacement for rice which he would be willing to try. My first thought was cauliflower rice or mash, but he doesn't eat cauliflower, cabbage, spinach or most other green vegies.
Tell them to make cauli mash, with some cheese n garlic mixed into it... Doesn't even taste like cauliflower, i bet they'll convert in a second.Problem is finding a suitable replacement for rice which he would be willing to try.
