Ok, so I have been wondering for a while now what my fellow MyBroadbander's braais look like. And how many different braais/braai areas they have.

So far I have a good idea what Fanie and Morty's braai's look like. But that's about it. Come peepz, please share your braai pics with us. And feel free to use this thread to show off your braai offerings as well.

So let me start. I have three braais:

Braai room braai - Semi built in braai.

I bought the frame and inside (bottom piece only) from a braai factory shop. The inside wall is lined with fire bricks. This braai is moer fast due to a great draft of air going up which ignites the wettest of wood in no time.

Outside braai - Stainless Steel braai made by my oupa (RIP).

I just LOVE this braai. Easy enough to carry around my yard. Its gets very hot and keeps its heat for very long due to the special design where the heat is angled towards the middle.

Not really using this one much. I am considering turning this into a pizza oven somehow. Or even some kind of fire pit oven ala the yanks.

Inside Braai, within enclosed Patio.

We only recently built it, and I'm loving it. Rain or shine, Winter or Summer, we can braai.

I do however want to get a standalone braai that I can put on the lawn in the Summer days, nothing like braaing in a group, standing around the braai, having a few beers and criticising the braai master. Built in braai's are anti-social and the heat can get a bit intense.

Wow that looks sooo fancy. Ever spill any fat or sauces on the floor or against that lovely white wall? :D

Not really, we are civilised like that :D

I do however always clean it from top to bottom after every festivity, especially the lid which I use as a counter-top, so that it stays in tip-top shape. I hate it when something new degrades quickly due to a lack of maintenance and cleaning.

I have to share this.

My Grand-Dad-in-Law used to own a foundry, so he had a custom made aluminium grid. Its basically an angle-iron frame, and then these aluminium sections slot in, so you can choose how many you need depending on the size of the party. They are easily removed to be cleaned. And due to the shape they will never ever warp.

I am busy arranging him to make me this for my braai, so that i can toss the stock standard Megamaster piece of crap that came with the braai.

The builders were still busy cleaning and the cement fondation was still wet, but braai we must.

How much does a braai like that cost to build? I want something like that.

I am going to guesstimate.

Braai with Cowel is +- R5000, and the Chimney with the lintels and labour will be between R5000 and R7000, maybe more.

Things have really gone up in price.
