The big plan for DStv and Showmax

Big plan? Article does not show any really big plans.
They better make big plans, the times are changing.

Is a joke. Anyone tried streaming plain old DSTV catch up even? Netflix HD no problem even 4k sometimes, DSTV archaic in comparison! Running 10 meg line and it battles with SD.

MultiChoice is looking into merging DStv Now and Showmax, but has no firm plan for how or when it might happen, said DStv Digital Media head Graeme Cumming.

That sums up the whole of Naspers.

The current streaming setup on the Explora is very poorly implimented. Compared to the PC/Phone/TV-Box apps for DSTV and Showmax, you have 2 quality choices: SD and HD. No automatic video quality scaling, meaning that if a family member suddenly hogs a little more bandwidth than normal, you get buffering.
I just cancelled my Showmax over the weekend. Keeping my DSTV Now for now...
Yeah I do not see any perk other than if you want to watch really old seasons of shows. Otherwise you can get much of the same with DSTV Now.

Since getting Showmax for free with DSTV Premium I still don't watch it. It's just a crap service even if free. Their 720p looks like trash on my TVs.

DSTV customers get Showmax for free until March 2019.

It's nice to see some HBO stuff on Showmax, but as to be expected almost everything is a year or more old.

All I really want right now is for DSTV now to keep episodes available online for longer. I don't always watch stuff in the 5 weeks they keep it online.

“We are trying to bring the best of both worlds to our customers,” said Cumming.

What about those who aren't DSTV subscribers? Kodi?

Yep, this would be something similar to SlingTV (the DStv now only sub)

What happened to "we are not the same company".

Did people ever actually fall for that lie?

They really need to sort out their integration on the Explora, sound is incredibly soft and no adaptive streaming as well.

Feel free to subscribe to DSTV and not use a decoder. DSTV now would cost exactly what DSTV costs. Do you expect some sort of discount for watching through the internet rather than a satellite?

do you expect to pay the same tariff when using a bus or a taxi?
