Hi guys,

If your into gaming, and don't know about us yet, read on:

We are a free community wifi project, (WirelessUserGroups), and our goal is to connect anyone and everyone interested on the network. It works through wifi, and you can run any application that uses TCP/IP, meaning all games! There's very low latency, good speeds, and best of all is it's free because it's a community project. There's always someone around to help you, and there's always games being played, somewhere, by someone on the WUG.

So take the first step and plot your home / work / wherever you are on the wug plotter at www.wug.za.net. Join us on irc.ptawug.co.za #ptawug or check out the website at www.ptawug.co.za.

You can also MSN me: [email protected] or Skype: mynerd

PTAWUG now covers most of PTA EAST, MOOT, and OLD EAST..
We also have connections with Jawug, Joburg's WUG, and PWP, the Pretoria Wireless Project running mainly in Centurion. So get on the WUG bus now, and join the fastest growing free wireless community in South Africa!

I'm in CT, what and how much would it cost to get setup in the group and does it include internet services or just a "WAN" connection to the rest of the group?

Juggy PM me if you are interested in joining with your location and i will see if we can hook you up to the network.

soz for the noob question but

Are all those things under the hardware section really needed? or cant you just make the aerial part and use it to plug into a wireless PCI card?

S1ght we prefer that a user use the hardware on the site, its not that much hardware. We have people connecting over distances > 12Km. If you buy the right stuff you'll get a decent connection. Crysis the speed i shall say avg at about 400KB/s but there is users getting speeds in excess of 1MB/s, it all depends from who you download and how many people are downloading.

how much does all the equipment cost? cause according to google earth, theres one of those "operational transit" things like 1.5 K's away...

I am interested sign me up... although raising money for hardware might be a consern... I am so keen and so ignorent and nieve all at the same time so please be nice, Noob Q' no. 1:

If I were to connect the wireless network connection that I have with ctwug into the switch at my house can I connect to the ctwug network from my pc across our existing network using two routers... one for telcum and won for the wan/wlan

because you are the only person there thats interested thus far? we are not going to put up R6000 worth of equipment to cover a area where no one is interested to join, hehe :P

register on www.wug.za.net, plot your location then you can see all the other nodes

come on irc - irc2.ptawug.co.za

guys i think WUGS are illegal according to ICASA, you pose a serious risk and therefore must stop any and all wug related discussion and activity IMMEDIATELY.
