Has anyone here done this and how long does it take to transfer between exchanges?

It takes as long as it does to send btc anywhere really. They wait for 3 confirmations and your btc is cleared. Usually around 10 - 45 minutes depending on traffic, could be more.

Do people think it will power through once the $10 000 barrier is broken or will there be an initial drop again as people get used to the idea of it crossing this barrier?

I think the price will increase a bit more than it should on Luno and then come down. i.e. If it holds at $10000 for a while. As we've seen, Bitcoin rarely sets up shop at one price for long.

Not sure I agree with all of that. I mean, cash doesn't earn interest either... but banks pay you interest for saving your cash with them.
Not sure what you're suggesting there... there will be plenty of legit services offering interest in future IMO... and there are legit services offering interest today.
