I was thinking the other day. Since I plan on never converting my cryptcurs to ZAR...but instead buy stuff at places that sell things I want abroad and shipping it home.

I ordered something from China, and Customs held it in its dirty paws waiting for me to send them a proof of purchase or invoice. As usual I made one up and sent it to them and they released my package - seller was Bruce Lee.

They've been doing this a lot recently and I was beginning to wonder whether it isn't in fact to see whether the currency you've paid in is USD and not perhaps a cryptocurrency. Perhaps one day when more stores are accepting BTC online, customs are checking for the use of BTC. So one day when they notice you've used BTC they'll tell you to come collect, and as soon as you enter the door they POUNCE!

This is why I always send my wife to collect my packages

:crylaugh:

bruce lee. legend!

Indeed, all the action happening with altcoins

Yeah - ETH has been good the last few days. Rest of my alts are just bobbing up and down, no major movement :)

Now I miss the BTC FOMO buying by the crowds - exciting times - LOL! I am sure they will be back soon..

Would be great if we can get some tax-expert's advice on how to handle Bitcoin-profits.

1. When selling BTC in Luno and you are in Rands, do you have to declare that, or only once you cash out to your bank account? Since you can buy back into BTC again - say if you are shorting, for example.
2. is the only option (once you cash out to your bank account) to just declare your profits as an income, and pay your specific individual tax-bracket tax rate?
3. Are there any other options to have the profits taxed at a lower rate? (Only above board and legal options of course) :)

Hmm... so the BTC price seems to be poking its head out of the slump we've had for the past few days.
I hope there's another spike soon, as much as I see it as a long term investment it's fun to see those numbers climb all day :)

I feel like the only person in the world who's been losing money on BTC so far, lol.
It helps when you don't buy at the height of a massive spike.

For the love of me i could not find my wallet because i had a old and new computer with multiple installs of windows, such a mess.
I found the actual wallet.dat file and would like to open it.
I dont know how to do this.

Good luck with that! There's zero framework for Bitcoin and there probably won't be for a LONG time.
I have a HUGE problem with the amount of Bitcoin I have on my hands.. I need to cash out and I
do not want to give a single satoshi of it to SARS.

Only way is to swap it for cash
