Ethereum up to nearly R11k. Bough5 in at R4.5-5k...hope it minimoons.

R6k doesnt sound like much but its more than doubled.

Im keen to see ETH grow as a trading currency, hopefully on steam etc where transactions clear faster.

Just took a look at my order history.

I've made over 1000 trades this year. :erm:  :o

I cashed out with a very tidy profit, but now with BTC climbing, I want to get back in. A dip would be great right about now...

Except for the high fees, what is the issue with INSTANT BUY/SELL? I'll be buying tomorrow, so how do I go about it if not through INSTANT BUY?

it's ridiculous though, I tested it out yesterday when the price was R256k and it wanted to sell it to me at like R262k. I feel Luno is kinda unfair for beginners with the 'Buy' button on the home screen but the exchange sort of hidden away. If you're actively trading i'd say use your computer otherwise just use the app. Click on the exchange and then add a buy or sell order. You usually want to be a 'maker' where you place an order that won't take a current order of the book because there are no fees for makers. If you're happy with the current price you can just add an order that would be immediately filled. You would then be a 'taker', takers pay a 1% fee on luno but it's still way less than you would pay on an instant buy or sell.

I recommend Googling the maker / taker fee structure method and then asking us if you have any questions. If you're unsure if you're a maker - make sure that when you're placing the order on the exchange it shows 0 fees (Sometimes if you place an order too close to the current price it may get an order with your price placed just before you do and then you pay a fee) In general you would always want to be a maker - especially with the big difference in maker and taker fees on Luno. The most common case where you would want to be a taker is if you know the price is shooting up and any order you add lower than the current price would likely not be met. You can weigh the extra cost up against the increase in price you expect and see if it's worth it.

i wish luno would drop the taker fee a bit. should be closer to 0.1% even 0.5% would be a big improvement. they have the volume now.

Anyone know what this drop is about? Things looked fairly calm half an hour ago with the Bitfinex price hovering between $16.8k and $16.9k.

This past hour a lot has dropped by a few %. I cashed out of IOTA just now, just a small amount in the first place but still. Its gonna bleed.

Yeah it's annoying getting caught out like this from nowhere. Plus I miss out on the major rebound.

It can’t go up every day. In fact, a bit of an (orderly) cooling off and some sideways action for a while is not unwelcome.

Bitifinex just had a huge spike from a buy-in. Over 500 volume done instantly which pushed the price up by over $200.

I did a BTC transfer from Altcointrader to Luno... going on 18 hours and waiting... eish.
