luno trading at 19k usd atm, avg is 14700 usd.

Looks like we going back up!

Only for a short while. I saw that drop from R240k coming as people were just buying for the last hour. So I sold at R239k and put in buy orders at R230k. Went to take a shower and saw that it dropped all the way to R215k. Didn't expect it to go that far back. Maybe R225k.

So many hardforks, it's crazy

Bitcoin Platinum(Dec 12)
Super Bitcoin Hardfork (Dec 17)
Lightning Bitcoin Hard Fork (Dec 23) at block 499999
"bitcoin god"(GOD) (Dec 25)
BUM (Dec 31)
Bitcoin Cash Plus (Jan 2)
Bitcoin Silver (time unknown)

Lightning Bitcoin Hard Fork already happened at block 499999 as we are now on block 500637 as I'm posting this.

So many forms and my ledger nano is waiting for me in norway. :/

Gonna keep my btc on luno until I'm settled. I don't trust my phone and tablet while traveling.

The ledger is also only protected with a pin. If you're using an iPhone and it requires a pin or whatever to unlock it should be as safe, even if you lose the device. Some people forget that your btc is store on the block chain and not on any device or software. They merely hold your private key.

Or people just cashing out. I know a few who jumped in a week ago at around R250k and now just want to get back the money they put in and never touch cryptos again. I assume that this is happening on exchanges all around the world so the climb back up will be tough. To get back to R300k might take a month or two.

I think this ^^ and people selling BTC to buy Xmas pressies. Too many newcomers to cryptos, who thaught they could make a quick buck. And too many scammers out there trying to sell them the moon: " I can make you 0.35BTC per day." - I see this a lot on the net.

We drove past a "bitcoin car" in Cresta yesterday - it looked like some guy selling some bitcoin seminars, and probably making a killing off uneducated and unsuspecting, desperate people looking to make extra cash.

You can trade eth/btc just not eth/zar.

IMHO trading and buy/sell is exactly the same thing. I wouldn't get too hung up on the terminology. I could call it exchanging and it will mean the same thing.

Bitcoins price, as with any other crypto is driven by supply/demand... willing buyer/willing seller. Because luno's volume is so small, demand is high but supply isn't therefore higher price people are willing to pay to get that little bit that is there.

No exchange will give you access to your private keys so he is wrong there. They are small in comparison... minute even, which just goes to reason the higher price but I wouldn't say they aren't a real exchange. Perhaps their charts and everything aren't as great as the bigger ones but when you like 50x smaller than you competitors it kind of stands to reason that they have better stuff.

Anything between 0.25% - 2%

Thanks for taking the time! Makes sense.

seems to be stabilizing at 230, must be a whale that bought a mansion then i suppose

The question is, will it ever drop back, and stay on the 100 moving average?

It dropped well below the 100 day on the 22nd and now its back well above. And trending up but nicely within the bollinger bands so Im still way optimistic. I bought in the bulk of my holdings at around R65k and some more at R180k but also some at R295k. Overall Im still in the green.

To me it does look like a lot of people taking profit for Xmas, as stated a few posts ago, and that is great. Next year they will remember how they made a nice Christmas bonus and be going for the same again.

Yes there was also some negative results from the BCH nonsense and the main stream medias insistence that the world was ending as far as crypto was concerned. So some self fulfilling prophecy stuff happening as well.

But taking a step back and zooming out the graphs a bit puts it back into perspective and we realise what a wonderful ride we have had this year.
