no volume on the big exchanges... when these things move up on low volumes, usually a sign of weakness

American are asleep now. There was also a massive spike on Bitfinex a few minutes ago. The price jumped by over $500 instantly.

as a general rule, prices become volatile in thin trade, but ignore me, I have no idea what I'm talking about

Personally, I am staying away from Tether. Any casual reading on the web raises a lot of red flags around Tether.

We need $12k to $13k to liven things up again. The price has consolidated at R160k on Luno for the last day and is going nowhere slowly with buy and sell orders piling up.

It's crypto. If the news gets spread around and enough people think it will happen, it will happen. People will sell to buy for lower and that itself will drive down the price. A self-fulling prophecy. It doesn't matter if the Chinese are selling or not once the news spreads.
