The BMW 320d Fanboy Thread

Imagine not wanting to own a 20d/30d and not wanting to post here. I’d live on this thread and post pics like mad.

Lol, mine is paid off. Gives me very little issues. Trade expected R130k, so what do I buy, everything is a downgrade. I will rather keep her well maintained for another 5 years.
Same here. Settled finance and plan on driving it for another 5 years.
330D F30 7.5L /100KM mixed traffic.
2 new RF Bridgestones at the back after numerous punctures and the drive is much smoother now.

How often were your replacing tyres?

Oh it wasn't about how often... My tyres still had tread life in them, but I had just hit a pothole so 1 front and 1 rear tyre needed to be replaced due to a bubble in the sidewall, which would have necessitated 4 new tyres due to the retarded M-Sport having different tyres front and back, and having retarded special shocks that were not easy to get or cheap.

Being brutally honest, if it hadn't been for the floods in Durban a few months prior to that event I very likely would have paid the money for new tyres, but I had started jonesing for a Bakkie again and Webuycars pretty much bought the car off me for near as damnit what I paid 2 or so years before that

20d owners, what kind of milage do you get when mostly doing city driving? Like a 70:30 split perhaps?

G01 X3 MSport 20d :
8.2l/100km in JHB stop and go with eco-on and sunroof open.
5-6l/100km on the freeway.

Just poured so will update if this changes. Was getting slightly lower in a F22 MSport 220d

They not that much to maintain, I see Goldwagen and Midas carry spares for them , you just need a guy  , the 3.0d would be a better option those are bullet proof
Lool I have a guy who knows a guy.
Since I'll be using it to go to school - I thought I should just steer clear until I can afford it myself.

Yoh but these mileage numbers make it very tempting.

But how much is your annual average spend on the car besides fuel?

at the moment, just fuel and insurance, its all under motorplan still, that said, the invoices for service that get submitted to bmw, i get a copy of as well, and a oil service is around R4k at the dealer ( i know that motorplan gets billed less) so assumption would be around R5500 or so for non motor plan service?

but there are plenty of independent places to go to out of motor plan

Tires, assuming you stick to Runflats would be around R20k a shot, im close on 60000km now with the original tires, and they still looking good

Thanks

Would be good to hear from someone out of warranty. Someone mentioned theirs was 10 years old.

I bought 3 oil services on a special package for R4500, used 2 still have one left.
No way I will pay R4k for an oil change, more like R2000 at SMG for the 330D.

Tyres came in at R7300 2 RF for the rear. Front I won't know as the size is different. Why I don't know

Are Midas spares decent? I’m curious to hear this.
Yeah I got bosch filters from them , NGK plugs for the GTI , I got Brembo brakes for the Audi from them. You have to pay a little for the name brand stuff and not rely on the cheapy no name branded or chinese branded stuff
