The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

I love dips they've become my main push exercise these days

and in other news I think I'm a few steps away from being able to do a one arm chin up, I was able to do a 6 second negative down with both arms yesterday :D

+1 on the dips. They're an awesome exercise

I'm a super circuiter at the gym and my main goal was to loose weight. I'm within a kg of where I want to be so happy with the results it's given me.. now I want to start additional 5x5 stronglifts on my non-gym days as I like the defined look the circuit has given me. (Will still have current gym days so the wife can do her circuit)

I've conned :D a guy at work (he's a runner so relatively fit and he's done weights before) to do it with me. I would like to try IF from leangains at the same time although I have some questions:

From here : http://www.leangains.com/2010/04/leangains-guide.html

But further down the page he mentions fasting schedules that have 1 and even 2 pre-workout meals (20%-25% of daily calorie). So surely that interrupts your 16 hour pre-workout fasting period?

:confused::confused::confused:

Leangains can be confusing. I'd use one of the third party guides:

Sjooooo.. that's a long read. Bit thanks for the link; have downloaded it.

Screwed up my back doing squats about a week ago. Ironically I was doing bodyweight squats and it wasn't even at gym, I was simply at home and wanted to do some squats.

Did about 9, went down for the 10th and as I pushed up I felt my back go 'kgh'. And I was like fuk, immediately knew something was wrong lol.

But I was like oh well, it didn't hurt to bad and I went for a swim.

About 20 minutes later I could bend my back at all, couldn't sit, couldn't stand up if I did use my arms to put me down into a chair. I literally looked just like my granpa who uses a walker. It was bad lol, it was like that for 2 days, once I was upright I was fine, it hurt but I was fine, mobile etc. No bending at all tho, just impossible without a lotta pain. Sleeping as well, **** it was a nightmare. Anti inflammatory's didn't work.

Anyways, I can bend now, a week later, but it's still very sore and I can't do any training without pain (i tried) can't even pick up my Yorkie without pain, she just stares at me like I have abandonded her lol.

I have no idea what happened. I've always had back problems probably from sitting at a desk 14 hours/day my majority of my life. But fuk this sucks.

Tried Googling it etc, some stuff about nerves showed up, but I doubt it's that idk.

sadly, once I stop training I stop eating so weighing 79 atm will see how long that lasts.

No idea, why you have not gone to see a dr...

That is the obvious thing to do?

Opinions please. Are BCAAs just a good idea before a fasted workout or is it a must?

Eat real food, avoid processed food and you won't need all these supps.

That sounds very much like a pinched nerve. It will likely be inflamed and sore for a week at least.

Age...

Age is what happened. :D

Sounds painful. Think you should go get it checked out ASAP!

Lol I would, but I don't have medical aid atm so I gotta tough it out unless it gets worse.

It could be, hoping it gets well soon. The irony is I was all like aww yeah 2017 is gonna be the year I make leg gains lol

I used to have that regularly and come to think of it it could be related to working out regularly or when you give it a break. I think when I pinched nerves it was usually either after working out after a break or when overdoing it. For me it usually happens when I get out of bed... all fine one minute - like an old man the next, and that's if for the rest of the week.

InternetSwag, hope your injury is getting better dude. I become a little baby when I am forced to take a break. I feel your pain.

Must say that all the heavy lifting has helped me push through my other training. Busy working with my tri-coach to make sure I can still keep 3 lifting sessions a week in between all the other stuff. Not easy, but I shall make sure we find a way.

And, started the stabilizer strengthening sets this week. Enjoying it. Today is leg day. Hold me.

I don't even bench and I'm ready to go

Back was a bit ****ed from squats and DL last night. Not DOMS, more like crunchy spine syndrome. Thinking of investing in a weight belt.

^^^ This is my biggest concern with starting stronglifts as I've had lower back issues previously. :(

The steady progression has been really good. But ever since I hit 90kg on squat and 100kg on DL, it's as if my body hasn't really adapted properly. I hold my breath on the way down to stabilise my trunk with squats and exhale at the top, and when I'm going up on DL, but I still feel it in my spine. My back is as straight as possible, so it's not so much my form as a feeling of my body just not being strong enough to move that type of weight.

I think I'll halt progression for about a week until I've gotten used to it, and try it with a belt, too.
