i've started doing german volume training, as i think i hit a plato in most of lifts (ie bench and shoulder press)...

...a guy on one of my other forums, gave me this routine. this week was week 1, so i'll let you know how this worked after 4-5weeks.

i slightly altered it for myself, but i posted his program as is

Hemel! no ways you will be going up in lifts with that routine... but like Zenbaas said, might have some good pumps and if done long enough pack some meat on

People are too impatient when it comes to routines that gain you strength instead of bulk muscle. But then again most people prefer muscle to strength so its only natural I guess.

Yep, same with supplement, always looking for something that works fast, never sticks to something for more than a month to see if it actually works and then never find anything close to what the are looking for :(

Yup...have tried many things over the years multiple times....and for myself I can say this with certainty...the only two things that have ever worked relatively well as supplement for me are creatine(in my case EAS Phosphagen HP) and protein, and thats it. And from "unbiased" research the conclusion seems to be similar. As we all know, exercise has a massive psychological component to it.

+1, +1 and +1

Another progress update:

Wanted to be at 100Kg 1st July to see if I could make it to 105Kg before end August. I'm at 98/99Kg at the moment :p I will push as hard as I can to bulk another 5 to 6 KG before I start my summer diet. Will be posting pics again at the end of my bulking cycle.

This is my progress so far this year:
Dec-08 83Kg
Jan-09 88Kg
Feb-09 92Kg
Mar-09 93Kg
Apr-09 94Kg
May-09 95Kg
Jun-09 96Kg
Jul-09 98Kg

Are you on something besides food?

Those are pretty decent gains if its muscle, 15kg of muscle in six months

No, loads of food and hard exercise. About 10% is fat. Still it is very good gains I know. I use protein shakes, creatine, glutamine and NOS for pre-workouts. I am suppose to pick up 500g per week that equals to 2kg per month minimum at the amount I'm eating but that is in an ideal world and ofc reality is a bit different and thus I only managed to do around 1KG solid gain a month...

Edit: I did use some Beta-ecdysterone and Methoxy in December / Jan which some people claim does not work but evidently it did work for me from the huge gains you can see...

I'm taking a one month break from gym I wanna pile on the weight I weigh 89 kg and im stuck at this weight.

How do you intend to gain muscle without working out for a month? IF you gain it will be all fat, then you need to work twice as hard to get into shape... that's if you haven't become too lazy to go back to gym! Rather post some info on your workout and diet and we can have a look at getting you to pack on some meat.

Awesome gains Chris!

What was your daily caloric excess when you were taking the Methoxy in Dec/Jan?

Did you use Musclescience Methoxy at the usual dosage? Where did you get the Beta-ecdy. from?

I'm taking a small break from gym - thyroid problem & possible adrenal fatigue form HIIT 5x per week.

I took around 1k excess with the methoxy (loads of protein - after which I was sick of eating for about a month haha). The beta-ecdy I got from my usual supplier (Supplement Warehouse). The brand is Supplements SA. I did however take large doses of the stuff. Arround double what label advises lol!

What I do during intense training is take every 5th week lighter (de-load) or completely off to recover depending on the intensity of the program.

Out of interest, paste your gym program :)

I'm starting again these week - can't wait to get rid of this F-A-T!

:p I've got quite a few programs going lol. During Dec/Jan I did low intensity high volume workouts, after that I did a strength program (high intensity low volume) and now I am on a mixture of the two.

Which one would you like to see? The first got my mass up fast, but as no strength gains were made I hit a huge brick wall and had to improvise with the strength program where no size was gained but strength went up quite a bit. I've only been doing this program I am on now for about 4 weeks but already I can see size and strength gains :)

The other thing is that I workout 5 days a week and hit each body part twice a week (except legs :o ) but I know this works for me and I recover from it fast were as you might only be able to do 4 days or even 3 days a week with better results...

Please post your workout program (the low-intensity, high-volume) and your current program. I'd like to try it out and see which works better for me.

I generally like heavy weights with low reps - always been strong with low muscle endurance...

Medium Volume, High Intensity: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=t2ra7wQ9JWX9QBa5fT4-5Kw&hl=en

Warming up is done by using a very light weight (on bench it will be only the bar) for 15 reps, then 50% of your first set at 10 reps.

Weights are ramped for each set. Last set of each exercise is done with max effort without failing the last rep (this is NB!)

Each week you MUST increase weight even if it is by 0.5 or 1kg!

Have to find my copy of the high volume workout and will post again then.

I have started a muscle gain program from health24, it seems quite nice. I don't want to look like a bodybuilder, just want to build a bit of muscle. I asked at the gym shop thing and the guy showed me this protein stuff that they just got in that has creatine in it as well... He said it is super good.

lol, they will say that and next month they will say it is crap and will try to sell you something new! Protein will help if you need to eat loads of food during the day to build muscle. Creatine is good but I wouldn't bother having it in a protein shake. It is cheaper eating right than taking supplements imo. Supplements must come after you ahve sorted your diet out.
