Exactly the damn same. And considering that both are local companies they are awesome. Whey is also imported and the same whey is also used by most brands the world over!

Easy test for whey quality is the solubility in water. If your whey does not dissolve fully...then perhaps a slightly lower quality product that has not been filtered as much. However this DOES NOT INFLUENCE THE PROTEIN CONTENT.

Go with either SSN or Nutritech. Be happy and enjoy saving a lot of money.

There's also the amino acid profile/filler %..
They are not necessarily exactly the same
You can't compare Nutritech to ON in terms of quality

I keep my ON for post gym, and take the 'cheaper'/'budget' stuff like SSN, EVOX for other times..
Though the local stuff isn't that cheap anymore

I am completely aware of this. And have done my research in both these areas.

ON Whey's claim to fame;

Whey Protein Isolate (WPI) Main Ingredient
Whey Protein Microfractions from Whey Protein Isolates & Ultra-Filtered Whey Protein Concentrate
Over 4 Grams of Glutamine & Glutaminc Acid in Each Serving
5.5 Grams of the Naturally Occurring Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine in Each Serving

Total fat - 1g, Carbs - 3g. Right.

Nutritech Whey.

Whey protein Isolate, Hydrolyzed whey and Whey protein concentrate. Check, check and check - same as ON
Glutamic Acid (Glutamine) - 4.234g. Check. Same as ON
BCAA's. Leucine (2883mg) Isoleucine (1041mg) Valine (966mg) = 4.89g. ON wins with 611mg.

Fat - 1g, Carbs - 2g

So ZERO discernible difference between the two products whatsoever - other than the outrageous price.

Hey, feel free to keep on using it. I am just reporting the facts.

And filler % on both products are zero btw.

So yes. I can compare the quality of the products.

Thanks!

Will look at it and compatre prices to what the pharmacies charge over here. :)

Yes, Jay's site is a very good place to start, no BS and no mysticism nonsense. I have been using his stuff and getting good results.

However, there are different paths up the same mountain, meaning, look at other resources and compare, but that site is a good place to start.

Nice comparison, thanks!

Thanks Orihalcon, I think the BSSA route is the way to go for me, prices are good, unflavoured whey and free shipping looks good. Now to decide on concentrate vs isolate.

Bro you are seriously interrupting the weekly whey shake discussion with this exercising crap.

k seriously, are you an experienced bodybuilder? If not then you don't need the ridiculous volumes bbers tend towards. More than 30 reps total for a muscle group is too much unless you working on endurance. If you're aiming for strength gains then your reps should be on the low side (<6). if you're aiming for increased muscle size then work in the 8-15 range. That site looks fine tho. not sure why you'd think anyone in this thread would be more credible than that site.

(realized I wasn't too clear - the under 6 and 8-15 reps are the number you should have in each set, not total)

I personally buy most of my raw products from BSSA.

No fluff added to any products - just pure raw supplements. They have some GREAT prices on BCAA's, Casein, Creatine etc.

Waiting on my Dextrose and Gaba order from em now. They try and ship same day/ next day once payment clears. Really on the ball.

Good afternoon Orihalcon bud

Just to inform you your Dextrose and Gaba has been shipped this afternoon. You will receive the tracking number shortly

Thanks for the support bud

One flaw in that comparison, Nutritech has more whey concentrate than isolate per serving, where ON is the opposite
Source is here:

Also, every whey supp will have some filler, whether its ON or Nutritech, its just the % that differs
I buy my raw supps from BSSA too, just not my whey (not because of the quality, their quality is great, just the eta's are too unpredictable)

I am interested to know how you can tell the % since none is given?

Also, as with ON, no % is given either.

(If you say that concentrate is listed first I am going to lol )

Edit: what the hell I will throw in some science on the whole whey concentrate and isolate difference.

Isolate, stripped of the extra lactose during denaturing process. Making it the go to source for lactose intolerant people. About 91% protein.

Concentrate is isolate one step before it undergoes that last denaturing process. It is not suitable for people who are lactose intolerant and have dairy allergies - since whey is a milk based protein. About 83% protein.

How does this translate to the ON vs Nutritech comparison. It doesn't really as both gives a 24g protein per 30g serving.

I will link to some science studies when at a pc (posting from tab) where isolate and concentrate are compared and besides the benefit of being suitable for lactose intolerant people, there is no extra benefit in terms of muscle building or protein synthesis aa the amino acid profile of both are the same.

Very true. Will send this question to the Nutri oaks to clarify as I am also curious.

Also. Edited my post with details re concentrate and isolate info.

cool, would be interested to read those studies, otherwise i'll just do some googling later

Yep
At the end of the day we all want the same thing, the best quality/value ratio
I also don't believe in wasting money on overhyped products BUT I personally don't view as ON as over-hyped, its quality, that we all agree on, and due to its status would've been through many many more independent tests than nutritech or any of the local brands, and that's the reason i choose to use it post gym.. I only buy it when I come across a good deal, like the one Springbok are currently running, I would NEVER pay the R1100 Dischem are currently charging for it.. and I would rather just pay the extra R100 and buy ON than Nutritech.. and I just happen to prefer the flavouring :)

Hehe. Absolutely nothing wrong with that!

Been farting like crazy since I started whey. They smell like dead donkey too :o

Taking it with water so it can't be lactose intolerance.

Whey itself comes from milk. So unless you taking pure 100% isolate there is a chance it could act up in your bowels.

Which whey you using?
