Does anybody know where I could buy a simple squat rack? I've come across the multi-use racks/power cages that cost a fortune (Anywhere from R8,500 to R13,500), but all I'm looking for is a simple squat rack. Currently I'm using one of those Trojan multi-use benches that has an extendable frame that you can use for squats, but I doubt its strength, especially as the weights get heavier.

Yeah, I just checked their prices, crazy stuff. But even a simple bench looks like it will set you back at least R2,500 now.

EDIT: Thanks for the link. They've got a squat rack for R2,995.00, including VAT and delivery. Very reasonable.

I have ordered from them before, very good service.

Send them an email first to ask about the maximum weight the product can handle.

If I had the cash I could go bossies on that website, all those nice toys , I miss gymming in a proper equipped gym.

Thanks and will ask beforehand.

Yeah, nothing beats a well equipped gym, but I have little time now, so I have started putting together a little something at home. But space will inevitably become a problem. I guess that is why they make this multi-purpose machines, but I do not really like them.

I have the Trojan Powercage, I use it everyday.
The build might seem dodgy but I have placed some serious weight on it BUT I have made myself safety chains etc in case the metal gives way.

I have a more simple Trojan bench. It can incline and be set to a seating position, it also has a mechanism that allows you to do leg curls/raises and the aforementioned ability to extend it to allow you to do squats. I'm no pwoerhouse at the moment, but eventually I feel its questionable strength will become a problem.

First quote:
SUPERSETS: are two exercises, in a row, without rest in between, where each movement works an OPPOSING muscle group
He specifically says opposing muscle sets...

Wiki contradicts that:
Supersets combine two or more exercises with similar motions to maximize the amount of work of an individual muscle or group of muscles
My bad, i got confused :o Reading and replying on an iPad and somehow equating COMPOUND SETS to supersets :p

Yeah, it's blinding sometimes lol. TMI. I've come to the conclusion that most of the heavies in the gym don't bother with details like you or I do, they just blindly lift weights and rely on their perfect genes. For the rest of us, we run around trying every trick in the book and wonder why it's so *** hard lol. Not to say there isn't science to it and it's not hard work, I just truly believe it's alot easier for some people than others...

I'm not saying hard work doesn't count - everyone can get results with good hard work, but some people have a distinct advantage.

So Dischem have animal pack on special..
I haven't bought it in years because of the price but the current deal isn't too bad
But oh my the new formula universal have used is vile

So I just found this (obviously, after I just paid R450 for 2kg Evox whey):

Of course it's probably unflavoured, but at R40 per 500g it's a steal, and the amount of protein is just :wtf:

I'll never do barbell curls again.. EVER
Tennis elbow is such a bitch, it's been 7 months since i've been able to train without pain, its been 3 months since I cut out bi's and back entirely.. I took the past 3 weeks off and last night was the first time I've been able to do light arms without any pain at all
Feels so good to be on the road to recovery again, going to go really light for the next few weeks to avoid a flare up again... but can I just say, for anyone who cares, stay clear of bb curls, rather do ez-bar, regardless of which is more effective for mass

I know that feeling... do you work with a mouse and is your chair considerably lower than your desk?

It is, and I know the discomfort you're talking about, I use a pad to rest the problematic elbow now, it's not my mouse arm thats the problem though, its my left

It's such an annoying injury, that has an effect on every single work out - including legs

Could be related to keyboard as well... I've noticed considerable pain in my wrists / elbows if I'm sitting prolonged periods where my elbows aren't able to be close to 90 degrees while using the PC. I'd look into that. That said, you may have something going on relating to the bar, but I'd be inclined to think it's secondary and the damage is being caused by a more long term / repetitive motion or elbow posture.

I'm pretty confident it's the bb curls, the angle of your wrists is just not natural, and it's never felt comfortable for me, yet i've persisted in the past..

But I have put that padding down at my desk too, just to alleviate the discomfort there and I have no doubt it was contributing to the problem

Interesting, I get it quite easily, never considered barbell curls, when I do do them, I choose the barbel as its supposed to be more effective.
