Will try these when my legs get stronger, I try goblet squats with dumbbells and my legs tire very quickly.

Jumping squats / lunges also work well - nice explosive movement, no heavy weight required.

I currently start with squats 70kg 7 sets of 6 - 8
Then leg raises 6 sets going past 8 reps if I can.
By now I'm stuffed and cant even squat body weight but it's only my 4th session on legs so will get stronger I'm sure.
I also squat very deep.

I weigh 76kg at the moment.

stronglifts.com It's full body, 3 times a week (alternating between workout A and B) and you can do the workouts in under 30 minutes when u have it down to an art form :)

I started just this week with the same thing : Reg Park Beginner Workout, because I do streetfit now 2 times a week which leaves only 3 days for lifting.

BTW, I am getting my ass handed to me at streetfit especially when they decide it's burpees day

Yeah, Mike Chang loves burpees too...

I need motivation. This weather made my motivation evaporate, that and a stupid flu that stick around for 2 weeks
( just sick enough to feel nasty not not full blown stay at home flu)

Now to start again :( it has not been a good year.

Bought Opti-Men 180 caps at Dischem today for R359, on special I think! It's currently R425 on special at supplementworld.co.za

I see one is supposed to take it 3 times a day, so it's a two month supply.

@Tinuva, how do u know Opti-Men is made from natural ingredients?
Because you need to take it 3 times a day as opposed to once in the morning like most other multi's. Vitamin sources for natural elements are absorbed much faster into the body, so to keep the vitamins in your body the whole day you need to take it in more regularly, like 3 times a day or every 4 hours. When it is not natural elements, you take it in once a day, before your system can even take it in, stomach acid destroy it and you literally just flush it out.

Additionally, when I use optimen I can actually feel the difference in my body, I feel better when I need to do any physical activity, hard to explain. Actually I am shy to admit it but I am very in touch with my body, any slight difference I notice. Like with these I will be more energetic most of the day, yet there is nothing in it that should give you more energy.

The real evidence however is, on the label, look in the () brackets after each vitamin which says where they source the vitamin from ect. You can then google those elements.

Thanks for the feedback with regards to full-body workouts and the link to stronglifts. I'm going to finish off my weekly routine then have a bash at a stronglift-type program. Will do some more reading up on it.

Also got the darn flu but a mild version just to keep me form staying at home.

So I'll be out at least until the weekend.

They are pricey those vitamins.

I'm very interested to try these front squats, as was said they seem like a full muscle engaging experience.

They most definitely are.

I do prefer back squats though since you can go heavier and when you focus on form can still keep a very upright posture to engage the glutes like front squats. However - your core is worked quite a bit more with front squates compared to back squats.

Definitely an excersise to cycle in the routine every now and then imho.

Yes, as he said in the vid - if you can't do them, there's a reason for it, and the only way to correct that is to do them.

What do you guys reckon with regards stance for squats - knees outwards, wide stance, or legs closer together? Closer together definitely works my quads more - or so it seems.

Any opinions on this?

... and one last Q...

Does anyone know where I can get a decent calf raise system for a decent price? So far it looks like nearly R4k for a smallish but decent looking one here:

Come to think of it, that design looks easy enough to DIY.

just put a barbell and towel across your knees... sit on a bench, and use a raised platform for your feet

You Gym from home?

Why not build your own, some box metal, bolts and pipes can save you mega bucks.
There are DIY links on google if you up to it.

Ja, I gym from home, I'm trying to come up with something compact - I have a two room gym, but have treadmill, rowing machine, general weight and pulley machine, bench, punch bag, orbital trainer and vibraplate for my wife... I'm running out of space :)
I think I will DIY - R4k is just not warranted for something that small and I'll enjoy doing it myself I think. Perhaps galvanise it afterwards.

I've tried that - I can't lift the weight to my knees... I need to add considerable weight to work my calves (I guess most people do). Up to now I've been doing one leg calf raisers with dumbell in one hand and the other for stability.

Cool, i have been using Centrum (still have a two week supply) and I can't say that I notice any benefit from taking it. Hopefully that will change with Opti-Men.

Bench PR!

70kgx5 up from 65x5
Nice dude! I'm trying to find my way with bench press as I've been deviating from SL5x5 for that exercise. What's your general chest programme? It's obviously working :)

I'm sure this has been done, but any recommendations on the best tasting protein powders? I am using Biogen Isowhey Chocolate at the moment. I would say out of 10:

Taste 8. It has a nice 'real' chocolate aftertaste.
Mixability 10. No lumps at all. Ever.
Price 6.

Anyone else with any recommendations?
