I have one too lol... I know what you're talking about... and the appendages are designed for your average Chinese bodybuilder lol.
Decent equipment is sooo expensive. I'm going to crack out the welding machine and get myself some square tubing I think... then off to morhot at the SBDC for galvanising.

They mention load weight, I'm assuming you factor in body weight and then barbell total weight.

I see sportmans has some but they all look flaky.

Yes - load weight is everything. Sportsmans have sold some good stuff in the past, but it's the imports like Weider, etc. That said, you get Weider and Weider pro.

Certainly not pemium stuff but better than maxxed / trojan. The leg extension / curl bits don't look too hot on that - the foam looks small. You'd have to test that thing before you buy IMO. Also, I'm not a fan of the weight arrangement on the leg part - fine for extension where fully extended, you have gravity against you, but leg curls - I suspect you won't get enough weight on that thing or it will get in the way.

The leg parts look dodgy and also the parts where the barbell will rest, in fact it's almost similar to what Trojan offer.
I have not been in a proper gym for ages so not sure what equipment in a bog standard gym might look like compared to the link and gave and what weider sell.

I'd actually like to sit down and design my own - something that works well without a spotter - especially for bench. My trojan bench is close to my head, and in fact overhead when I do incline bench. I have to pop my head under the bar to start. Doesn't make me comfortable when I'm pushing near max or to failure with a bar. I tend to do dumbells more often as a result.

I'm thinking something like this (crude drawing):

...where you can throw the weight behind you without worrying about where it lands if you find yourself in trouble... the bar section should be able to be raised/lowered for incline / decline... so that it's just safely above your head to give you more options when your arms are about to cave in.

I have a Trojan bench with rack attached BUT the width your are forced to use is shoulder width and narrower, you cant go wide grip.

So I use the Powercage for wide grip and a dumbell bench slid into it, max weight sticker says 120kg, I'm 75kg so it only leaves me with 45kg to lift, so I currently go over by 30kg.

I have chains for IF the bench comes apart the weight will not hit the floor but be caught by the chains suspended, i alls seems dodgy at best now.

Evolve Concepts has an adujstable Bench for R2660 that looks like something you might find in a gym.

I had my best squat workout yesterday and not because I set a PB in terms of weight but because I nailed form for all 4 x 8 sets.

When I started squatting I was very tight in the hamstrings and couldn't get below parallel. But, with regular stretching and doing squats I have started loosening up. On my first set yesterday I could feel I was getting good depth and could feel the muscles working more than before so I got my video camera to record myself as I didn't have a spot to check. Recorded the next 3 sets and boom, head level (not looking up or down), back straight and hips below the knees on every rep.

Think i need to spend some dosh on a decent bench, had a dream last night that the thing collapsed on me, one of those Trojan n benches that has max weight sticker of 120kg.

Was thinking of something like this:

I can imagine if 70kg barbell falls on your head it'll do some damage.

I want to replace my Trojan bench combo with a power rack and bench. Things is though, those power racks are damn expensive for a decent one. I can find a baseline one for 3k (150kg limit) but the one I really want is 7k (400kg limit) and it has a built in spotter and chinup facility.

WE pay a premium in SA for home fitness equipment that's for sure, a while back did some research and was looking at pictures of guys home gyms in America and UK, almost like they have a complete gym all to themselves.

The powercage seems well built, my only concern is with the "catch" attachments, not sure what weight they can hold, but they look very sturdy and I have asked a welder/metal worker my brother in law and he says it's very well done.

Yep... very pricey...
All I want are some powerblock dumbells - 2x 40kg set... but those are way overpriced.

You just gave me one heck of an idea. I can salvage the Trojan bench and just build myself a rack, that way I still have a bench I can use for various other exercises!

Also, is there a good fitness forum here in SA? I have a question or two to ask regarding a training program I'm following atm.

Not a bad idea actually. I thought about building my own rack but my metal-working skills are next to non-existent.

I shall build this and it shall be mine. Lets see how my pullup bar comes out first, I just found some tubing I can use.

Some of this **** is insane - check the dude repping 380kg.

To get past the mental strangle of pressing over 100, 200kg over your head must be a great achievement.

It must take the guys years to train for that.
I wonder what damage is done do their bodies though when they get older.

To inspire us, or show us how wimpy we are!

Her form looks, for the lack of a better word, interesting, but over 108kg at 13 years.
:wtf:
