It is used interchangeably, but kilocalories is correct. Its a 1000 calories.

You'd probably find that the label on food is with a capital C for calorie.

eg. 1 kilocalorie = 1 Calorie = 1000 calories

Thanks. So, in your infinite wisdom does the 3000 kilocalories this nutritionist friend of mine suggested I eat eat sound completely bonkers, or is she about on the right track? I'm going for 82Kg's (currently 76); 186cm.

That is spot on,3000 clean calories sounds right, although you might want to bump it up to 3500.

Sounds right... you don't want to go from nothing to a **** load of calories :p

So after XRays, MRI scan and 2 consultations to a neurologist it turns out my back is as healthy as ever, but yet I have constant lower back pain. Anyone know a good yoga instructor in Cape Town? :D

Somewhere near N1 City would be neat

The best back stretch for when I have pain in my lower back. I even get a click sometimes like cracking your knuckles which relieves some pressure.

That IS an amazing stretch. I did it last night on the bed and was amazed at how the pain immediately relieved while i was in that position

So I seem to be unable to pick up any weight, despite horking down 3700+ calories a day (yes I counted) with zero cardio.

On that note I have a question: How good is milk when bulking? Currently sitting on 14% bf at 80kgs, 1,82m. I'm looking to get to about 88kgs with good, clean bulk and then I'll move over to a decent cutting diet.

If it is recommended, what type should I be drinking? I am slightly concerned about the saturated fat content of full-cream considering I'm looking at drinking about 1,5 litres a day, but it is the most calorie dense.

Lifts are getting heavier, just the body weight isn't. :(

So who here has a homegym? Just wondering where to get relatively decent equipment without being overcharged...

I have been steadily building up a small home gym over the passed 5 months. Most of what I purchased is from Gumtree and a few things from pawn shops.

Gumtree :
Power rack with 80kgs weights - R1800
Bench with 87.5kg weights - R1000
Recently picked up 90kgs assorted weights at R6kg

Pawn shops :
Dumbells with spin locks and assorted small weights - R180
Barbell and EZ bar - R200

Most of the weights were in shocking conditions of rust and disrepair. I have sanded most of them down and sprayed with Rustoelum Hammered finish spray paint and they now look as good as new :D

Sounds about right tbh, I was bulking at 76 kg's @ 3500 calories.

Too much ****ing food to eat on a daily -_-

Anybody here do CrossFit?
I was sore and felt like crap yesterday but still wanted to try a fran and failed miserably
I could push the 42kg's but pull ups is a problem esp since I try for proper form.

I have three friends who do yoga and Yo Yoga (I think that's the name). Unfortunately it's in Claremont, right next to Cavendish.

Think I need to take 2 days off, I'm hurting and my strength is sapping.

Chest routine for yesterday I was running low on time so had a quick 40min session.

I start on flat bench with around 6-8reps, then straight onto the incline and bust out past 6 reps, the straight onto cable crossover with high pulley low weight for a burnout.

rest 1min

The onto dumbell bench and flyes trying my best for perfect form and bang out 6 reps.

rest 1min

Then back into flat, incline, cable crossover with low pulley.

rest 1min

Dumbbell Flyes

I did this for around 4 sets each.

Then back to incline for 2 sets to utter failure, at this point it's like a switch that get's flicked, I can actually feel my pecs are now exhausted as they fail, I can then feel my other muscles working instead so time to stop.
I have never before really felt this mind and muscle combination they talk about so often until the last 2 months or so.
