It's funny how u big guys make the weights look so small. i.e. the 20kg plates in this pic. I make the 20kg plates look massive :p

On another note, I only realised yesterday that not gyming for a few days made me noticeably skinnier!
Duration
Muscles begin to swell about two hours after exercise. Swelling peaks on the fourth day, then gradually subsides, returning to normal seven to eleven days after a workout. Researchers at the Department of Physiology at Monash University in Australia found that swelling was not only greater after eccentric contractions than concentric training, but it also took longer to subside.

Yoh wasnt in the gym for a long time, and its all my own fault, got a GF taking up time, winter was cold, and me plain lazy.

Got there last night after dance class, and woah did I take a beating doing squats!!

Time to get back into routine for me.

Btw, when talking weights, do you guys include the weight of the bar?

Anyone know what the bars at VA weigh? They say it's 20kg....I could almost not believe it, seems a lot lighter than that.

You include the weight of the bar, after all, you are lifting it are you not?

so a 20kg plate on each side = 60kg (20kg plate + 20kg plate + 20kg bar)

Depending on which VA you are at, most do have the 20kg olympic bars, that is at the bench and squat racks. The bar on the smith and some of those static weights are definitely not 20kg.

The olympic bars are the one with the bearings and the 'thicker' ends for plates with the larger holes. They are 20kg. You do count them in, because you lift them as well. You even count 2.5kg for the screw-on clamps, each.

so a 20kg plate on each side = 100kg (20kg plate + 20kg plate + 20kg bar)

lol, maths fail, 20kg on each side equals 60kg, 2 x 20kg place on each side = 100kg :D

take a 20kg plate in one hand and bar in the other, you will see they feel the same.

Actually not a maths fail, but you welcome to laugh like a tool before pointing it out. I was thinking 60kg and typed 100kg while talking to other people at the same time at the office. But thank you for pointing it out, at least the brackets part was correct.

Wow so I'm lifting more than I think?
No wonder my 15kg + 15kg press for fran killed me

bud i was yanking your chain don't take it so personally, lmao did not mean to ruffle your feathers won't correct you again ;) ps. your one in brackets was also 60kg's :p

Probably not, the bar will feel lighter.

It feels more or less the same to me, just different as the the weight distribution and grip is different.

Which is why the brackets were correct :)
But you are right, I could be more chill about the lol. :P

To me the bar and plate weight feels relatively the same, but if you want the relative same grip on both, you need to balance the bar while holding it, making it feel somewhat different.

clamps are for pu$$ies xD

Started gyming again on Sunday after 3 months of being sick with various flu's and migraines, surprised at how well its going!

Already picked up half a kg since monday, can see the difference, and can feel that the weights are too light for most things, excluding chest.

I always struggle with chest, and havent gone up from 30kgs since I started gyming, and everything has now caught up to 30kgs, and ready to go further, just not chest? I struggle on both bench and chest press BTW.

Anyone know why?

I got past my bench press failure by strengthening my triceps, an exercise that helped me was triceps rope pull-downs.
Added +-15kg to my bench over the past 3 months.

@Vertix, your post is a bit vague for anyone to give you any specific advice. So, how long have u been gyming? What and how much do you eat? What is your bodyweight and height? i.e. If you weigh 20kg then benching 30kg ain't bad :p

Im using this tricep chair thing, with the bars just behind my neck, not sure what the machine is called, should be good right?

Guess I could be clearer :P
Started gyming in Feb, and was doing 30kg chest up until July roughly, including push-ups, which I can do 30 of no problem btw.

Im 1.7m and weight about 70kgs.
I eat a fair amount, 3 normal meals and 2 snacks, and take 100g serving of Evox 5xl muscle meal a day as well.
