I use colophony resin (pine resin). Pretty cheap from M-Kem or probably most pharmacies.

I assume it comes in powder form?
Do most of you guys use Olympic bar for Deadlifts, I only have standard bar so I think that slows me down a bit, need to come up with a fat grip.

Yeah, a 1kg bag of powder, with some chunky bits in it. I only use the Olympic bar. ;)

I have just moved from my varsity gym to Virgin Active. It's early days but I haven't seen anyone DL yet. I've seen many people squatting tho. The bars have far less grip than I'm used to so now I have to concentrate on grip far more than I'm used to (even with gloves). It's quite a shock to see what people get up to in commercial gyms, where the hell did they come up with such weird exercises? stick to the basics.

Virgin Active is amazing... we have people doing curls, push-ups and pull ups in the squat rack (to name a few) - and recently I started seeing guys doing bent over rows on the bench.... They only have two of each, so it gets damn annoying waiting for some guy to finish his set of rows using the damn bench.

LOL, I have also seen some strange stuff.
I have also seen some guys fall their asses off ala should be on youtube style, at Health and Raquet in PE, a chap was on the bench, they had been there for about 5min and added massive weights to the bar that the guy was going to lift, his partner lifts the thing up, guy on bench grabs it and it just drops onto his chest...........looked very sore and the guy dissapeared after that with tears in his eyes.

If the only single squat rack at our VA is in use, I do my pendlay rows using the bench's bar. I can't wait an hour for a squat rack to open every day. In my books, the more people I piss off, the faster the guys at VA will hopefully realize they need more than 1 squat rack, and I do nag the staff every day, I am pretty sure they want to run when they see me enter the gym nowadays. Still annoyed by their downgrade.

And the guys that pick up weights/dumbells that are way to heavy for decent form, swing it up and down and then drop them making a loud noise that the floor vibrates.

Ja, I always laugh at okes with these heavy weights that makes them loose form.
And the loud dropping is purely attention seeking IMHO

I loose form on some lifts - but only near the end... e.g. last couple of reps :p

That is different, I do as well.
but I see okes flapping their wings, looking like butterflies when they do side laterals etc

Not actually. Slowly lowering heavy weights (dumbells) after you maxed out can injure you badly. The okes that throw 5 kilo weights arounf are chops, though.

The gym only has two olympic bars?

5 in total.
1 in squat rack
2 flat barbell benches
2 incline barbell benches

The incline benches however are next to the dumbbell section, with load of people all over that area, so easier to do it in the flat bench area if the squat rack is occupied.
