Louis XIV boasted about killing hundreds of thousands of us. Like we really had a choice. Don't be so proud about it buddy. Your countrymen already apologized back in the 80's, they knew they f**cked up.

Well he's seeing it wrong. I bet you he didn't even say it that way to the Afriforum member. Don't stand up for the guy, I think he can do it himself.

Again... Not sure why you think I'm standing up for him... I was querying how you got to him being proud from his statement... And honestly after giving the history a quick read and approaching it vaguely like it was that time I think he is actually probably on the money with the way he sees it.

You did appear to be distancing yourself from them as if they were forced out of France because they weren't really french, or weren't really good enough, up to your standards. Came across as a bit condescending to me, that you didn't want to be associated with 'their sort', they were expelled, remember?

He was trying to get me in his pocket by the French/Huguenot thing and his French surname.

I reminded him that his ancestors were actually expelled by us from France, they got asylum in Netherlands who sent them to SA. He stopped speaking of it. :ROFL:

In all fairness, it's also the way I read it and I believe a normal person would read it. Not taking anybody's side.

I would do the same with any right winger. Current or past french.

I have nothing in common with these people and they better not try to find something - as he did.

The laugh was because it was a poor and stupid attempt at making me relate to him by virtue of our origins.
