The Brexit Thread

It's creating a headache as Ireland is part of the UK. So if the EU sends items to Ireland without checks needed it's technically in the UK already. However to abide by International Trade Agreements this can not happen. So the UK is saying, **** it, you want to send items to Ireland, do so but that is your baby, you need to agree to international trade agreements.

Umm, no... Ireland is not part of the UK, Northern Ireland is. Ireland is a seperate country all together.

was the fta with japan established because of brexit, or was it just another trade agreement with another country. ah brexit, lets now trade with japan. wtf.

will all trade agreements with other countries now be the result of brexit

really seems like people making things up to blame the uk for, "look what you have done, bad dog! bad!"

why not move that nissan production to another eu country like spain.

It's of zero benefit to the EU as Nissan will be employing Japanese workers and not EU nationals. That is in Japans best interest and has fark all to do with the UK or the EU.

I think you're confused. Ireland is not part of the UK

Can someone explain to me why the EU needs it's own army if the EU is just a political and trade alliance?

well this is what im thinking of too.

i get there are issues with this entire thing, but this reasoning seems weird

did the entire plant close down in sunderland or is it just the one model production

It makes no sense to manufacture the model in Sunderland if it can't take advantage of the EU FTA with Japan...

because of the russian boogeyman? makes a great sales pitch to sell weapons :D

Seriously? you wade into a debate like this and don't know the difference between Ireland and Northern Ireland?

I do. Again, please explain to me how it's the UK's problem if there is a Border that needs to be enforced by the ITA between Northern Ireland and Ireland?

That is the EU's problem, not really the UK's problem. If I understand the ITA correctly. Meaning that is why the EU is fighting so hard for it, and the UK parliament is not having any of it.

But you said, Ireland is not in the UK?

From my understanding Northern Ireland is part of the UK

Perhaps you should read up more about the troubles and the good Friday agreement

Ok so let me get this straight..

The UK wants to leave the EU, but its the EUs problem that there is a land border between the 2 entities?

The EU has its own army? I thought it was up to each state to decide on commiting troops or not.

This is something that does not sit well with me at all, and is why I support Brexit now. These countries are supposed to maintain sovereignty, but it seems that that idea is slowly eroding. Many EU countries don't have the funds for this, so the richer nations will have to pay out a larger share. The average person on the street that wants free healthcare and education will have to sacrifice.
