The Brexit Thread

Let me know when someone post pics online of the British standing ready to build a Berlin style wall, then I'll panic with you.

I've been through that wall a few times in the past and believe me, it was a few grades up in security from the Berlin Wall. It was lined with barracks and they had frequent and regular bombings and shootings at the soldiers on duty.

Current mood on my site is well captured by the front page of the Daily Mirror, which I just snapped a pic of on my way to a meeting.

Mostly people are saying let's see if Boris actions can match all his rhetoric. Most people in agreement that Boris is a joke and its going to be a good crack (UK slang) for the next few months.

And these are blue collared labourers. Everyone sees Boris for who he is. Another Etonian elitist with no concept of what everyday life in the UK is.

LOL @ using the Daily Mirror as some sort of barometer of the feeling about Boris. As the Wikipedia article points out:

The paper has consistently supported the Labour Party since the 1945 general election.

By the way, YouGov already has already Boris beating Corbyn in the "Who would be a better PM?" question:

You wouldn't think it given the anti-Boris pollution in this thread.

And more good news as chief architect of Vote Leave is brought into government:

Then we have free unchecked entry for anyone and everyone into the UK, which of course is the very opposite of the point of Brexit. So this would mean potentially passport control between NI and the mainland which the loyalists would never accept, and the Tories could not offer as an alternative anyway because the DUP have been bought by them to keep them in power.
That's the issue that a propper deal should have addressed. Now they'll just have to work it out after Brexit.

It will be an open border for some time until they figure out the practicalities. Borris can say, no backstop. But he doesn't have the means to enforce that right away. We are still playing a game of chicken. This is just to see who blinks first.

The remoaners will probably freak out enough to get the other side(or just Ireland) back to the negotiation table.

Good. Load the cabinet with all and any of the vociferously pro-Brexit politicians.

No more blame game.

Let them deliver.

Let us see how they do it now.

Is the wall still there and the soldiers ready to move in?

What do you think is going to happen with the Irish border now? In the likely event that the no deal Brexit you desire so enthusiastically will happen.
You forget that they don't care one bit about killing and death. They relish in it.

Boris is the "right" of Brexit. And the reason the left is getting their tits in a knot :D

Indeed. I just hope Boris doesn't try and snooker Brexiteers with merely changing one or two details of Theresa May's awful WA. Our backstop is the Brexit Party :)

But he probably needs to call a general election, or force the pro-EU fake Tories to vote against him in a vote of no confidence (which will result in them automatically being deselected i.e. lose their jobs).

It's amazing seeing all the Theresa May acolytes resigning, just proved to us Brexiteers which we could see way back in 2016 that she had ZERO intention of ever leaving the EU.

He absolutely must call an election with an election manifesto including no deal as official policy. Then he can get his mandate for it.

Now BoJo needs to appoint an explicitly pro-Brexit cabinet. Come on Jacob Rees-Mogg, Dominic Raab, Priti Patel etc.
Let the cadre deployment begin.

A couple of questions for example:

When Scotland play rugby against SA, who does Spizz support?

When the British and Irish Lions play rugby against SA, who does Spizz support?

When England play rugby against SA, who does Spizz support?
What colour jerseys are they wearing? That's really the only sound basis for deciding.

Springbok are fast, but I'd expect a pride of lions to be able to kill at least one, so I'd be more likely to back the lions. Obviously if the lions were up against elephants then I might back the elephants. Although I'd never discount the possibility of the crocodiles pulling off a kill.

The sample of people you see on twitter is not representative of the UK.

All of my labour are Welsh, all voted for Brexit and are mostly cautiously pessimistic over Boris. Because he is just another Elitist.

That is the key.

Brexit was a for these guys a big backlash against the Elites.

And yes this is also a small sample, I just feel this is more at the coal face of public opinion than twitter and a South African forum.

The referendum was all the mandate that is needed. May tried to get a deal. The British people can't vote to make the EU give them a better deal. All that's left is a no deal exit.

May was a weak leader. And hence a totally schit negotiator. Let's hope Boris is able to get a better deal for the UK.

A no deal brexit is just stupid and will be harmful to Britain

Jesus.

Google.

Over the past 2 years I have seen article after article by pro-Brexit news about this was how the people were sticking it to the elites.

https://www.theamericanconservative.com/larison/a-brexit-backlash-against-the-elite-consensus/

https://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2016/08/betraying-brexit-revolt-elites-people/

https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1...y-latest-UK-news-EU-today-BBC-vote-referendum

I could go on and on and on

That's not what you said though. And no, the reason for Brexit is control of the borders on their terms. Nit picking a few articles to suit your narrative doesn't make it the reason /facepalm
