Given that the original referendum was 3 years ago, that both sides made false promises at the time, that the public has more factual information about the consequences of leaving today, that parliament can't come to a decision and the whole process has caused a culture war, it's high time for another referendum around this issue. But the chicken **** brexiteers will do anything to avoid that. If leaving the EU was truly the will of the majority of the UK, they would have left by now, but clearly there is a great divide and no agreement can be found.

Ok, here's a question to you: If Remain had one, would a 2nd referendum have even been discussed? I think we all know the answer to that one.

We also know know about the EU's increased control freakery since 2016 as well. Clegg famously called Farage a liar about plans for an EU army, Farage has been proven correct in his assertion (as usual).

Unlikely, because if remain had won we wouldn't be in a situation of the current ****up we have now.
Unless the vote was very close (as it was) and the Leave campaign made ongoing calls for a second referendum, it's more likely the UK would have put the referendum behind them and got on with life.

The reason a second referendum is required now is not because Remain lost, it's because the consequences of leaving are clearer, a culture war is in progress, parliament is a complete mess, this issue has dragged on for years, there is no good outcome on the horizon, nobody can agree on anything and the UK is the laughing stock of the world. None of this would be the case if remain had won, the UK would SIMPLY have continued with business as usual, within the EU.

I agree with that analysis. Brexit is the ultimate poisoned chalice. As soon as a political leader/grouping gets the upper hand in unravelling the mess they get backlash from parliament or the voting public or both.

If Johnson gets his way and the UK crashes out on 31 Oct, he will face an election soon after (the current coalition opposing him in parliament will surely call a no confidence vote).
Voter sentiment will strongly move against him due to the bullying tactics and lies used to force the exit.
Plus there will be some level of chaos in the immediate aftermath of no-deal. I doubt it will be as bad as the fear mongers make it, but enough to sway the voters.

So if he wins the Brexit war he is sure to lose power.
This will give the opposition the opportunity to negotiate the real substantive Brexit deals – prepare for Norway + or maybe even a new referendum.

On the other hand, if parliament prevails in the current Brexit battle and forces Johnson to get the extension the opposition will have to face the wrath of the voters in the early election (which will happen as labour already stated they will vote for an election if no-deal is averted).
Voter sentiment will move sharply against Corbin and co for frustrating Johnson’s attempts to deliver Brexit using spurious tactics.
Expect Johnson to be returned with a large majority. The opposition can win the extension, but they will be denied power and so lose the Brexit war.

I support remain, but the only way for the UK to get back into Europe in a way that is legitimate in the eyes of voters, is to leave first.
A no-deal crash out would hasten the process enormously but at an economic cost.
The responsible thing would be to get a deal – I think May’s deal will do.
Is parliament finally close to voting for it now - it seems a majority of labour MP's are ready.

The Brexit Party Limited is not really new, it’s just Nigel Farage’s new vehicle after being pushed out of UKIP by even more extreme right wingers.

Lol. Because Farage has (had) the power to obtain a 2nd referendum? A Remoaner parliament would never allow for that, and you know it. They would have observed a close a 52-48 result in favour of remaining and decide not ever risk the membership of the EU going to a plebiscite ever again.
