The Brexit Thread

Brexit is real popcorn munching spectacle. So are Trump shenanigans. There is schadenfreude involved because at least South Africa is not the only country with dipshits in power.

At long last Johnson has actually come up with an offer to the EU. Talk about leaving things till the last minute!
Can you explain how it differs from the backstop?
It's basically the same thing. He's just stating it a different way, and implying that Northern Ireland had no say over it under the previous deal. The rest is exactly the same. Transition period during which the UK remains in the customs union, and can exit that union whenever it chooses.

The rest is proposed bribes to placate those living in Northern Ireland and the DUP.

Looks like poor Bojo isn't universally liked in his constituency
Lazy old goat just wants a free ride on the dole, she should step aside and let the new generation build an empire greater than the one she voted into EU slavery 40 years ago.

Do you actually know what the dole refers to?
unemployment benefit for lazy deadbeats?

not that it matters if it's the dole, or some stipend or a damn coupon book that she gets, she just has that look about her of someone who's sucking the government teat somewhere whilst moaning about people who yearn for more than standing with cupped hands and grovelling at the EU's feet

The EU will decide at the end of the week whether a Brexit deal is going to be possible, French President Emmanuel Macron has told Boris Johnson.

President Macron said talks should now proceed swiftly to see if an agreement can "respect" EU principles.

Mr Johnson said the EU should not be "lured" into thinking there will be a delay to Brexit beyond 31 October.

However, a law requires him to request one if a deal is not agreed by 19 October.

Any law has loopholes, I'm sure they will find a few.

unemployment benefit for lazy deadbeats?
Is that why Margaret Thatcher expanded them?

people who yearn for more than standing with cupped hands and grovelling at the EU's feet
So is it those who want to remain in the EU that yearn for more or those who want to leave because they think the EU was some remote organisation over which their country had no influence?

No-deal Brexit nerves grip Wolfsburg, the German home town of Volkswagen
The German carmakers finally broke their silence on Brexit last month. In a rare joint statement with car industry lobby groups from across Europe, they warned that a No Deal Brexit would have “seismic” and “devastating” consequences for the sector.

A German study released earlier this year predicted that No Deal could put as many as 100,000 jobs at risk in Germany - and that Wolfsburg would be among the worst hit cities. Already reeling from the Dieselgate scandal, No Deal is the last thing VW needs.

“We absolutely need a deal with Britain,” Hartwig, Erb, Wolfsburg’s most powerful trade union leader, told the Telegraph.

“There are no winners from a No Deal Brexit. The European economy will be weakened

Take note Theresa May and all the idiots who keep voting to take "no deal" off the table, THIS is what happens when the EU starts to believe you are actually prepared to do it ...
