The Brexit Thread

As a follow on to that tweet.

The EU is set to accept the Boris Johnson’s reluctant request for a Brexit delay up to 31 January with the option of leaving earlier after Donald Tusk said he would recommend to heads of state and government that they sign it off without need for a summit.

“Following PM’s decision to pause the process of ratification of the Withdrawal Agreement, and in order to avoid a no-deal #Brexit, I will recommend the EU27 accept the UK request for an extension,” Tusk tweeted. “For this I will propose a written procedure.”

The European council president’s announcement followed MPs’ rejection of the prime minister’s timetable for passing the withdrawal agreement.

No, the deal wasn't approved, they agreed to debate the Act, but with vote 2 refused to do it on BoJo's timetable. They want to set their own timetable (and probably time for amendments to the Act, lots of amendments, would be my guess).
So just more delay tactics by parliament.

You are wrong. The entry of the Brexit Party which has not contested elections yet, will tip the scales in favour of LEAVE. They were last polled to hold 15% of the popular vote if a snap election would take place.
Which is meaningless in the context of the UK's electoral system. They could get 15% of the vote and win almost no seats.

So Brexit towards end of 2022 then. At least it gives them time to start drawing up the trade agreements with other countries.

It does appear that once a no-deal is ruled out completely, that Labour will agree to back a motion to call an election much sooner.

ATM, it seems that Boris is being forced to accept the position that it’s only possible to leave the E.U. with a deal rather than no deal.

Unless the Tories and Brexit Party formed a coalition.
I think Boris would reconsider this now he's got his back to the wall.
A few weeks ago he was cock sure of his abilities, snubbing the offer from Farage, and is now running out of options.
A Brexit Party lifeline may just be an option now, with little to loose and everything to gain.

Farage is no fool though. He'd want this reheated Theresa May deal (95% the same) off the table to clear the decks for a Clean Break Brexit before jumping into bed with Boris.

The New Deal (Treaty) will make the UK a EU vassal state for years to come, with even less say or bargaining power than they have now.

The ball is now in the hands of the EU who must collectively decide on an extension period. Their offer is dependant on all 27 EU states agreeing to the timetable. It is rumored both Poland and Hungary may veto an extension, due to their ongoing anti-EU stance.

Let's see how this all unfolds. There have been so many flip flops in recent times, anything is possible.

Like UKIP, The Brexit Party Will shortly become irrelevant. A one-trick pony. Nigel can go back to the pub.

Not this time around. The Brexit Party is busy expanding and building up candidates to stand as MPs across the UK. They are drawing large crowds of supporters at grass roots level avery day as their do their road shows. All these shenanigans are making them stronger, more determined and eager to reset British politics.

Just like UKIP did...

UKIP was infiltrated by bigots, morons, ardent racists and fascists like Tommy Robbinson.
Farage, its co-founder, walked away from the party because the alt-right coup and negative publicity was overwhelming.
Hence he later started the new Brexit Party on a clean slate, which is doing well in the polls.
Ukip is now dead.

The Brexit Party will be a king maker in any upcoming UK general election.

Watch this.

You’re right that UKIP became the BNP, but the Brexit Party is simply the old UKIP with a new name and the same leader.

UKIP managed 4 million votes in a general election (without winning a seat), the Brexit Party will likely do better, but only by splitting the brexiter vote.

Has Nigel ever left the pub?
Why leave the pub when you can draw a salary without doing any work? Live off the taxpayers' money while pretending you're not on welfare.

Do they have enough votes in any one location to get a single seat?
