Brexit is over and done for, people in Britain (especially Brexiters) need to come down to reality and realise the EU owes the UK no favours, we are now a Third Country in terms of EU rules, this was said over and over and over since 2014 (and dismissed as Project Fear by Leavers) and it’s about time people stopped thinking the UK is some sort of special case that deserves rule bending from the EU. You got your Brexit, now learn to live with it.

The biggest issue is this "You got your Brexit, now learn to live with it" because it's not my Brexit, it's the UK's Brexit, and everyone in the UK is affected by it. Everyone needs to accept and respect the democratic process that happened twice, and push forward to give the UK the best outcome it can.

What do you want though? Realistically, its not like the UK will rejoin the EU again for many many years to come, what's the point in being negetive about it all the time? Do you not want the UK to show the EU and the world they succeeded in Brexit? Do you not want the UK to be a powerhouse, a trade centre, a country people around the world are jealous of? Or is it more important for Brexit to fail so that you can feel vindicated and hold onto a dream that the UK may join the EU again only if Brexit fails? For a person that wanted to lecture me on British citizenship, birth rights and having opinions, I was hoping it's because you are pro-British and have a loyalty to the UK, or am I wrong about you and you merely jumped on your horse and thought you could shut down the conversation by pulling "rank" and the only reason you are in UK is because it better than SA?

As a side note, I don't see many remainers criticising the UKs vaccine rollout because even though some news outlets (yes, those anti-Brexit ones) have said Brexit had nothing to do with the success of the vaccine rollout, everyone knows not being tied to the EU has proved to be good for the UK by having free reign in how and where to procure vaccines. Even the EU's lies, the bullying and demanding, the unethical behavior of trying to blame and punish the UK for their own vaccine failure, to which they backtracked and looked like total *****, the remainers keep quiet, not a peep about this, like ostriches burying their head in the sand. Yet, these same remainers happily roll up their sleeve to get a jab all while mumbling about Bojo and Brexit. It's very hypocritical of them to be honest.

I have realized all the politicians including the EU are liars a long time ago. Fortunately as the weeks have passed, the EU have done a splendid job in showing the world the lying, petty, childish, bullies they are, yet denial is strong in the pro-EU camp regarding this.

Your link pretty much backs my previous post. It doesn't answer the question why the EU needed to send a communication two weeks after Brexit explaining the regulations regarding shell fish will be permanent, unless of course there is some truth where the UK government has said they were given assurances the regulations would be changed come April and the EU have back-tracked on these assurances.

Just because the EU hasn't commented on these statements doesn't mean the UK government is lying, but it seems that some people in UK would rather want the UK to be the ones lying at the expense of people's jobs so that they can say "I told you so".

When you speak about a collective, then you use the collective name. I bet you will find hundreds of posts on myBB where people have said the ANC lie or the ANC are corrupt, and plenty of articles in the recent news referencing the NHS have done this and that. It's a simple construct of language that it would now seem a difficult one for some to comprehend.

So in the same vein, is it so hard for you to acknowledge the EU are a bunch of unethical lying bullies just as the last few weeks has shown the world. Who in their right mind would want to associate themselves with such a vile organization is beyond me, but I suppose it says more about the person than it does about the EU.

I don't think anyone was ever going to be overly chuffed with the agreement we got. But I think the fact that it was signed in the 11th hour says a lot, because at that stage it was either a limp agreement or no deal at all. And things would've been infinitely worse with the latter. That's something both sides (Leave and Remain) can actually agree on.

But, after 4 years of both sides (UK and EU) playing hardball like petulant children, at least we still have some semblance of a softer trade agreement to work with. And, guaranteed, as time goes on, there WILL be amendments to it, and it can surely only improve.

An average €9.2bn shares a day were traded on Euronext Amsterdam and the Dutch arms of CBOE Europe and Turquoise in January, a more than fourfold increase from December. The surge came as volumes in London fell sharply to €8.6bn, dislodging the UK from its historic position as the main hub for the European market, according to data from CBOE Europe.

The shift was prompted by a ban on EU-based financial institutions trading in London because Brussels has not recognised UK exchanges and trading venues as having the same supervisory status as its own.

I read this elsewhere, didn't seem to be a surprise though, it was a known change that was to happen as EU financial institutions aren't allowed to trade on London's exchange. Even though the numbers seem big, they estimated the impact is around £5m loss in tax per annum. It's relatively small compared the total share trade of London though.

What's more concerning is the news of US "equivalence" where EU banks can use US clearing houses and deal with Wall Street instead of London.

What do you want though?

Ideally a deal negotiated that is similar to what Norway or Switzerland has, a deal pushed from before the referendum by Farage, Johnson, Davies, Hannan, Grayling, Elliot, Banks...

Or membership of EFTA or the EEA.

Sovereignty along with proper unrestricted access to the SM, like Norway or Iceland.

Maybe a lot of people who saw the dangers of the specific Brexit the Tory leavers and their supporters have now got was always going to damage the UK (but were always shouted down as Project Fear), it’s not their job to now resolve those issues.

It’s the Conservatives, their funders and the further right wing (like Farage and his hangers-on) who must now show it works or are destroyed as a political force when the average voter turns on them.

About 1,000 EU finance firms are eyeing up opening offices in the UK for the first time, according to financial consultancy Bovill.

A Freedom of Information (FOI) request by the firm found that 1,500 money managers, payment firms and insurers have applied for permission to continue operating in the UK after Brexit.

Around two-thirds had no prior physical operations in Britain, it said.

Member states are quite within their rights to negotiate outside of the EU collective bargaining process if they want for medical services, just like Austria and Denmark are doing now. They could have done this months ago if they wanted to.
