I think that might be pushing the definition of mechanic a bit too far, she was photographed looking into an engine bay with a spanner in her hand iirc.
Princess Elizabeth began her training as a mechanic in March 1945. She undertook a driving and vehicle maintenance course at Aldershot, qualifying on April 14.
The Queen is also the last surviving head of state to have served during the Second World War. Now in her 90s, she is often pictured behind the wheel and has been known to diagnose and repair faulty engines just as she was taught to do during her wartime service in the ATS.

I’ve done a few of those over the years, it definitely doesn’t make me a mechanic.

There’s a big difference between vehicle maintenance and what a mechanic does.

OK Dave, but it's more than just a photograph

Labour reminding everyone why even borris was a better choice:giggle:

Some insight from a truck driver regarding the real reasons for the shortage:

But, wait. Here's the same guy with a warning two years ago:

Basically, for the people sitting in the seats it boils down to being treated and paid like crap. The foreigners started leaving long before Brexit because they could make way more money back home.

I see now they saying their economy is just in a remodeling phase.. it will be all good when it is done.. how long? .. well uhm.. how long does it take to get someone through studies and experience?

Yah.. tough times for them ahead of the remodeling process. On the bright side, their adverts in EU managed to attract 27 of the 100k lorry drivers needed.. now they just need to get butchers, seasonal workers, iT people etc. maybe they can deploy army people into those positions too..

You missed the part where truck drivers can earn more in the EU (and that's why they started going back home before Brexit even made it to the referendum stage)? Why would you move to a foreign country to earn less money?

You're almost getting it

Matt Hancock has resigned.

Well, now he's the United Nations’ special representative for Africa... Nice work if you can get it.
Hancock will be working on financial innovation and climate change under the UN’s Economic Commission for Africa and will be involved in helping the continent’s economy recover from the pandemic.
