The Bubbles challenge

r00i, can you see how much data was transferred from a single modem? Have two modems linked to my account but one is turned off coz external antenna problematic...

So, if I already own a 2Mb modem, does that count as 1 modem? (easy win for a 2nd 2Mb modem) :D
See first post:
Sorry, only Dark Knights and Batmans (if you have a silver surfer you don't need another one.) However, a silver surfer who posts their results as above and are on top of the heap will collect an ATA (codename Yoda)

Love too, but I cannot even hit over 0.30kb/s

1) The person who downloads the most during the month of May using a single modem collects a silver surfer.
2) The person who downloads the most during the month of May using more than one modem collects a silver surfer.

To qualify you have to use iBurst Wireless and post your results during the month of May in this thread. Your results will be verified by a request to PM your utid.

Hint: To win this challenge it is advisable to use the Uncapped Anytime VAS.

I'm using the webphone. It doesn't seem to be offered by iBurst anymore.

Can I use the webphone in the challenge? After all the speed with the webphone is same as with the other two.

Well I think only internet savvy folk aka download whores would partake in this and all iburst download whores would presumable be MyBB members.

Don't advertise to the general public! The competition is stiff enough as it is

Good luck to all you interwebz rapists... may the biggest rapist win!

All results to be posted by or before 31 May @ 11:59:59pm or should we perhaps have a window in which to post results? Such as, all results must be posted on the 31 of May between 6pm and 8pm or something like that.

Just had serious déjà vu while posting this comment :/

Well it depends when the usage reports get mailed, not always on time. Before midday on the 31st should be reasonable?

How about a challenge to iBurst to fix the transparent IPs issue before the end of May?

Hear, hear !!!

There is probably a bunch of #BS I could download at on or just over the theoretical VAS limit to get into contention, but that's rather pointless isn't it?
This should be based on real world usage, and the transparent IP issue makes that unfeasible for me.

If this is based on total usage and not ONLY on after hours VAS usage it also becomes a weighted competition in favor of those that have higher base packages. For instance someone who has a 10 or 15 Gig base account + VAS is at a distinct advantage over those that have for instance 2 Gig + VAS account.

My other concern is that this will overload towers and congest bandwidth QOS for those of us that already have VAS packages and use them as intended. Now everyone aware of this 'competition' that has VAS is going to try and rape the network for all it's worth, potentially degrading service to the rest of us.

What is the point of all of this?

Honestly I don't think this was very well thought out

On the contrary. The 128k VAS is R249/month * 24months = R5976. Now, if 10 people take on this VAS just for the comp, that = R59760 which easily covers the cost of the modem. Yes, the network will suffer for it, but as we all know, money is king. ;)
