The cable has landed

Guys whats stoping someone walking on the beach cutting the cable? Always wondered. Also with SAT3 its above ground, Just imagine someone damages it!

Generally these things are underneath the sand as they approach the land so you would have to dig a hole first. Secondly they are armor clad so they are not that easily cut.

As for trawlers etc they are usually mapped out on maritime maps to prevent trawlers snagging them but it does occassionally happen where a trawler snags the cable & breaks it.
 
Was this MainOne always in the picture? I've not heard of it before, perhaps I need to read the cable articles more carefully!

IF the government -- read incumbent party -- MAKE the LAW -- what do you expect ????

THIS has always been the problem in a democracy.

BIG business sucks up to Gov -- gets them to pass legislation that favours their particular product / service / monopoly.

VOILA -- END of competition - Gov regulated industry.

The business that has the deepest pockets and can bribe the Guavamunt the best walks away with the all the shekels.

Nothing New :mad:
