The Cannabis Thread #2

Quick question, (This might have been answered in the previous thread but seriously not going to go through the tons of info)

If I want to grow my own from a good strain(indica) in the Gauteng area.
1. Is it best to do it outside?

2. Best to do it inhouse?

3.1. Should it have just partly sun or full sun or does it depends on the strain.
3.2. Do you water it every day or just every nth amount of days.

4. How long should it take to make your usable buds?
Are you setup for an indoor grow. It is not cheap but yields will be great.
Lighting requirements are strain dependent. Generally as much sun as possible.
As per harvest times on buds it is also dependent on strain.

For the above reasons i choose to purchase my buds rather than growing my own.

As mentioned, for an indoor grow you will need to invest some money - you can "fake it", but the yields will be low and the quality will be less than optimal.
My favourite supply shop for grow equipment is: https://gthydro.co.za
You will need the following (minimum):
1. A tent - unless you have a dedicated room that you can switch off lights and leave closed for 12 hours at a time)
2. Grow lights - for indoor nowadays LED lights are great since they provide "good" light, don't generate much heat.
3. Soil / nutrients - I put these two together because you can buy an organic "super soil" (one with included nutrients), or use a good base soil and provide your own nutrients.

There are many other things you can acquire over time, such as meters for temp/humidity/co2, fans / heaters to regulate temp, as well as other things to tailor your grow environment (ph balancing soil, add/reduce c02, etc).

Given all that, growing outdoor is much simpler but comes with some drawbacks, most notably being tied to the seasons. You want to grow cannabis through the spring/summer months, at which point the sun will trigger the natural states: vegetative growth (the growing and get big part) and flowering (the making of the good stuff). The other problem with outdoor is the elements - hail, pests, bugs, disease to name a few (indoor grows can still be susceptible to bugs/pests/disease, but it's easier to isolate and treat when needed).

As for timelines, for an indoor grow you can get some buds grown in 10-14 weeks (depending on strain and available grow space - larger plants require more vegetation time).
For an outdoor grow it depends on when you plant them - but you're looking at 2-6 months - yields on a 6 month grow will be good if you keep the plants healthy.

You could also grow in an outdoor greenhouse (with glass) - this has the benefits of sunlight (still the best light available) while limiting the exposure to the elements.

Unfortunately this is a huge subject, and you'll have to do some research to find all the answers for you specific needs. Good luck :)

Question: Have any of you quit smoking cigarettes while smoking joints at the same time?
Been trying for a while now but I think the whole lighting up etc is making it harder to quit the cigs.

Use a bong instead? It may break the mental connection you have with lighting up

Cool thanks, are you off of the Nic Salts as well? Not to keen on replacing one method of smoking nicotene with another.
Yeah I wouldnt do it, for me quitting the vape will be much harder than quitting ciggies would have been.
Most of my mates say the same thing after switching over a few years back.

No, still like nicotine, been vaping for over 10 years now. It's much less hard on the lungs. The major harm from smoking is not the nicotine.

Yes I did. My routine used to be a cig straight after a j so it was a tough habit to break but the foul taste of tobacco helped quite a bit :)

Here is 2c about my first Dis-Cann order:

Despite 6 post "Ms Smith" being laughed at for shilling Dis-Cann in the thread prior, I as a thrifty (read; cheap-skate) toker, was attentive to the mention of "10g larf greenhouse & 10g larf indoor medical grade for 600".. so I put Ms Smith's claims of "really professional" & "looks legit" to the test.

After getting in touch with Dis-Cann, and having a short chat with a higher-up (incl. voicing my concern regarding the lack of available online feedback), I was handled quite cordially & politely, and was pointed to a few references/mentions (albeit older) here and there. The lack of online presence was acknowledged, and as it turns out; they are/were doing a promo to fix that, by offering a small gift to those customers willing to leave some feedback online.

NB: Larf - AKA. popcorn nugs, as opposed to 'prime' buds

I chose to go ahead with the 10g greenhouse(GH) larf + 10g indoor(ID) larf.
-For GH I chose: Caramelicious and Super Cheese (I chose this one so I could compare it to a Super Cheese GH I had obtained elsewhere)
-For ID I chose: Jacky Girl's Cookies, White Widow, and Skunk #1
-There are several shipping options, and even collection available to locals

-Delivery Time: Excellent. Package dispatched quick, and arrived without delay.
-Packaging: Excellent. Layered. No odour detectable before you get right in. Non-conspicuous. Individual items are neatly labelled with name and weight. Didn't appear any squashing/man-handling/abuse.
-Weight: Spot on. All portions(incl. baggie) show minimum 110%+ of expected figure.
-Moisture: Seems fine, and consistent between strains. No concern of excessive water content/weight. And neither is it too dry, far from it... there may be room for a little more curing, but very good and ready for use from the go.
-Contaminants: I did not visually detect any pests or anything. Maybe the super-tiniest lint strand or two which you may only notice with magnification, as can be seen in one or two of the pics below.

Here are some amateur pics: (be sure to zoom in for a good look at those trich's)
Caramelicious GH: I'm not the biggest caramel fan, but this flower does look good - Caramel-GH

Super Cheese GH: As mentioned above, I chose this one so I could compare it with another Super Cheese GH that costs 20+ bux more, so here are both of those: Dis-Cann-SuperCheese-GH vs. Other-SuperCheese-GH - What do you think? I think I'm gonna be saving at least 20/g for SuperCheese GH from now on.. :D

Jacky Girl's Cookies ID: Was excited to get in this high THC strain. Long pistils on this girl. Here are two angles: JGC-ID-Angle-1 - JGC-ID-Angle-2

White Widow ID: The old school, and potent: White-Widow-ID

Skunk #1 ID: Wasn't too sure about this strain, but I should have realized that it can't be named "#1" for no reason..looking real good: Skunk#1-ID

Here are the very exciting two gift samples:
Blueberry Indoor Prime: She's a hairy one: BB-ID-Close - BB-ID-Far

And lastly is this crazyness in the form of: Indoor Hydro Caramel Kush Prime - Far1 - Close1 - Close2 o_O

Conclusion: Highly Satisfied 5/5

Indoor prime at less than <100/g
And Hydro prime at just above >100/g
That's some good stuff right there alone IMO.. but take note there's also a fairly wide selection of other goodies on the menu too which may interest you. You also get a gift..based on spend total, an added cherry on top.

Living up to the name "Dis-Cann" perhaps? I reckon maybe so.. or at the least; it's a great start towards gaining notable share/popularity in the space. Hope they keep it up.

Do you remember this shocking experience with HappyApple, as reported by @Ocean_Potion? I get the complete opposite vibe from the folks at DC, who seem to genuinely care, as well as hold high standards. I guess I will briefly add that their communication has been very good, timeous, and helpful both before, and after sale. I like that.

Anyway, this was my experience with this order. Hope to see other satisfied MyBB brethren. Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with any outlet, and hold no personal accountability for your experience/s.

I am keen to put in a second order myself, then I should be good for a long while ...well that's assuming I have a chance to get some more, before @mister buys up all the stock

Thanks DC, for the great service and very kind inclusion of the extra gifts. :notworthy:

Sorry long poast :)

tl;dr - Experience was good. Would definitely recommend trying. Just don't sell em' out! :p
