The circus that is MWeb

I too wonder what the usage behavior of those throttled users are? Perhaps TextiileGuy & GreatD7007 can share?

My usage behavior is this:
Weekdays (daytime) : email, basic browsing, social networks, occasional YouTube/Hulu/iPlayer, Skype, github, Stackoverflow browsing, radio streaming
Weekday (night) + weekends : email, basic browsing, social networks, YouTube/Hulu/iPlayer, git, 2/3 series StdDef episode downloads per day(those that aren't available on Hulu) + occasional 720p movie (once a month)

Also left mweb on a 2Mb uncapped premium product after i got throttled when they told me that i never will, worst ISP i know of, always use to like them till last year, moved to afrihost and they are the best out there to me :) Mweb are like iburst now LOL

I wonder how many people complaining were downloading every torrent available? It's my only explanation for not being throttled. I buy my games, I don't really watch movies, I get my music from YouTube.

Amble over to their FB page and have a read .... (Its like a circus)

Why you are not throttled - to quote MWEB Guy you probably ''use your Internet network in a normal way; avoid mass downloading or streaming HD 24/7."' Good for you. :)

But see - I didnt get the zig with MWEB for throttling me per se - no no no .....( I actually don't remember ever being throttled to be honest .... )

I am pi$$ed with MWEB for
1. Unilaterally changing the Ts and Cs of the contract.
2. Their bad attitude to their customers.
3. The generally silly reference numbers they gave me when I mailed them .... which didn't solve my problem.
4. Their accusing me of ''manipulating'' something to bypass whatever it is that throttles their accounts ... (thanks for the vote of confidence MWEB, but I wouldn't know how)
5. Their absolute refusal to indicate the throttle limits ... leaving me open to their discretionary non delivery for a service I had paid for ...
6. They assume that everyone with high data useage is a torrent whore - hey - NNTP is easier and cleaner if you want to download the net.
7. The fact that they were the ''free the web'' guys who have resorted to the bluntest of instruments to re-shackle the web .... and their new CEO just couldn't give a hoot for that asset called the customer.

And - while scanning their FB page - I note I am not alone.
I also note they delete unhappy posts too - keeping it tidy.

Now, if you are with MWEB and are happy - cool, good for you, and I am happy for you. ;) No seriously - they are a great ISP when things go right, and I have said this often.

But for that person looking for an ISP, well I am that guy who is the anti campaigner .... because MWEB pi$$ed me off.

Very well said sir. I couldn't agree more with you :) Mweb disgusts me, the amount of times I was throttled :/

I think you should be ok, just don't do as much Streaming and gaming or downloading. Then you should be good to go with Mweb. You on a 1 Mb premium account right? Thanks goodness it's premium because with standard the customers is screwed, I mean its very limited to how much content you have access to. Premium you should be ok but no heavy streaming or downloading I'll say again and the throttle bug won't attack you :D Have a good day

Yeah it's a sad story about Hershaws company. He is being so greedy and he doesn't even have a clue that its trampling Mweb, a former well known amazing ISP. Can't say the same now

@GreatD7007 I'm on a 4Mb standard account. As I said, I'm curious as to how, those that are throttled, use the internet to achieve such high usage: are they movie/tv-series hoarders?

Having said that, I'll be moving full-time over to Incredible Connection's 2Mb ADSL product at the start of Feb. I think their throttling/shaping strategy matches my behavior...and get to save $$$. If that fails, I'll thry OW's Titan 2Mb product

Well how many people are going to admit to running illegal downloads 24/7? :D Each time Steam has a sale I leave downloads running 24/7 for up to five weeks at a time. I'm certain traffic influences the throttling.

Last month on mweb as well, not saying it was a bad account, but when you debit my account for 899 instead of 769 like it says on your website, thats stealing. So i cancelled on that basis.

Hi, if you want take advantage of the new price of R769, we could arrange for the downgrade.
Please PM if you would like to proceed.
