The Corsa problem solver

Did a like for like replacement and as per manufacturer spec: NGK - BPR5EY. When I get a chance I will pull the plugs and do a visual inspection to see how they are burning.

All true, no warning light whatsoever. Will pick up a fuel relay and report back.

Just try swopping a relay around.

Brief update on the issue, replaced the fuel relay - no change or difference.

Took it for a diagnostic, surprise surprise no codes. Spark plugs pulled by the mechanic and immediately he states "wrong plugs".

Apparently BPR5EY are incorrect at a gap of 0,8128 mm, suggested plugs are BPR5EY-11 at a gap of 1.1176 mm. A quick field gap was carried out with a gapping tool at 1.1 mm and seems to be marginally better. Anyone have any thought on this before I get a set of gapped (-11) sparks to test with?

Should plugs not solve issue, mech mentioned to look into the coolant temp sensor located under the coil pack.

That could be ONE of the sensors causing issues yes. Also called the "cold-start sensor" ... R875 at the dealers for OEM.

..and yes he is correct on the BPR5EY-11 plugs

Thanks Dimpie - you mention OEM, got quoted R200 from Goldwagen, are these any good?

I have no clue ... I would probably also opt for the Goldwagon one, but many a mech would say stay away.

I watch a few mechs on YT and many get vehicles with "pirate" sensors and the motor not running as it should ... they fit an OEM they have laying around and issue gone. ... so im not sure. To replace ALL (4) sensors with OEM from dealers would put you down by R15,000

Hi all
I’m new to this but I bought an Opel corsa lite 1.4 (engine code starts with 2k )
Sunday my clutch cable snapped and I replaced the clutch cable which is fine but I would like to know what the spring mechanism by the clutch lever is called ?

Will attach an image of what I am referring to as I had to McGyver this cause the cable kept on separating from the clutch lever

Will also attach my mcgyver as well

How it was before the cable snapped

Any ideas will be much appreciated

If you replaced the clutch cable the tensioner (if that's what it's called) would have come supplied as part of the cable. Unless the incorrect cable was supplied / fitted?

Image below with the spring / tensioner;

BPR5EY-11 Plugs fitted and notable improvement in low down torque, power delivery is smooth and consistent. Will give it a week or so and also do a consumption check - have a good feeling that this may have been the issue.

The black par At the end fell off so that’s why i currently have bolts and washers in my mcgyver

The original cable is the one that came with the spring, the aftermarket don't.

Can't you take the part from the old cable and fit it on the new one?

Hope you already have a new cable because this one is not going to last, there was too much slack on the cable if it came undone, your mcgyver fix makes the cable misaligned which is going to stress it.

If buying a new cable is too much, and if the old one doesn't fit, be creative and design a new piece with plastic.

Anyone replaced their ignition on a Corsa B? Im wondering what happens to the chip in the current key?. Does that then get put into the new key?

Hi ,I own a Corsa lite 13NE ,1998, WAS functioning proper, till the polarity (terminals )were mixed ,and forced to start,so it end up damaging the car, tried to fix it but still problem persist.

Bought all new, coil pack, spark plugs, plugleads, crank sensor, Map sensor, new battery ,took the harness to test it ,came ok,to no solution

At the end even took my ecu for repairs...(Dupec A124A)

THE car turns, flash the engine light and still no spark.

Please help

Well, What i thought was possibly a damaged ignition turned out to be a fkd battery, was fine one day and the next day totally shagged, no warning.

Ive replaced my 7 year old Willard with a Macht one...lets see how long this one lasts... Getting pricey now for a 629 batttery at R1300.

Good afternoon all
I currently have an Opel corsa lite 1.4 8v

I’m dealing with an oil leak from my sump plug but I’m not sure where I can get a sump plug replacement

My engine code is
2K0033641

I’m also looking for this pipe I’m not sure what it’s called as oil is leaking and accumulating on the outside of the air intake manifold (i think that’s what it’s called I’ll attach an image )

The pipe is a bit swollen and apparently it should have a clamp on it

The sump plug works with a 19inch spanner I’m not sure of the size but I’ll probably need to buy a new bottle of oil to refill as I refilled the oil on the 20th of December 2024

Any advice would be much appreciated

Go to Goldwagen, the hose looks swollen because it is making a sharp bend, you can get a clamp anywhere.

The sump uses a torx bolt, I think it's size 45, just get a socket kit.

They also have a physical shop in Randburg.
