The Corsa problem solver

Hi ,I own a Corsa lite 13NE ,1998, WAS functioning proper, till the polarity (terminals )were mixed ,and forced to start,so it end up damaging the car, tried to fix it but still problem persist.

Bought all new, coil pack, spark plugs, plugleads, crank sensor, Map sensor, new battery ,took the harness to test it ,came ok,to no solution

At the end even took my ecu for repairs...(Dupec A124A)

THE car turns, flash the engine light and still no spark.

Please help
There's a whole set of fuses that protects the circuit in case of a short, there should be no need for replacing all the things you have replaced.

But yes, stop buying anything else and get a mechanic.

They also have a physical shop in Randburg.
Thanks man
Much appreciated
I’ll go to goldwagen as soon as I get a chance

Hi all hope everyone is doing well
I have a potential electrical issue and I’m lost I’m not gonna lie

Issue:
The instrument cluster intermittently goes off , as well as the radio while driving and then quickly comes back on again
This happens regardless of whether I’m driving straight or turning and it’s random so I’m not sure what causes it

I’m not sure what to do as these are the things that I did to this point

Things I’ve done :
Replaced the battery And the battery connectors as well

Replaced the fuse box and all the fuses as well
Checked the alternator
Replaced the fan belt
But the issue persists

I’ll upload the video to YouTube and then attach the links as I’m not able to send the video

I made a playlist as it’s difficult to explain but it’s easier if you guys and ladies can see it in a video

Any advice would be much appreciated

Do the interior lights act up when you use your indicators or only with the hazzards?
Have you had the steering wheel console cover off or done any electrical.work on it lately? Looks like loose or damaged wiring/bad connections. somewhere? Are your earths nice and clean?

The interior lights act up only when I use my hazards
I have not checked the earth cables yet but will do so later today
And I have not taken the steering cover console off before but the auto electrician who looked over the car said it was the fuse box and then proceeded to replace the fuse box , only for this issue to reoccur again

I took it back to him and he said that he does not know what else could be causing this issue

I’ll check the earth cables to see if that resolves the issue of that does not resolve the issue , is there any auto electrician that you would be able to recommend , ideally in the northern suburbs in Cape Town perhaps ?

How long have you had these issues?. Have you fitted a new radio or removed it before...? To me it looks like a short somewhere as its only a few things doing random things. Have you removed and refited all the fuses in the box.?

Unfortunately I live in Cowteng so cant recommend anyone down your way.

The auto electrician used a voltmeter and he also disconnected the battery terminal while the car was on
Not foolproof since it could be failing under load, when mine was busy failing it still passed the removal of terminal test, but the car would randomly cut out while in motion when the aircon is on, took a long while before the alternator finally gave up.

Also check the grounds.

This.

Especially UNDER the dash. Do a search for the wiring diagram and it will show ALL the earth/ground points.

I doubt it's particularly connected to the hazards even when it acts up when the hazards are on, it probably has to do with an increase in current draw, try to see if you can replicate the issue with other circuits like lights, fan, etc.

If you can't it's possible the issue could be on the hazards circuit, remove the indicators and see if there is no water ingress, corrosion or partial/intermittent short somewhere.

The interior lights - swap them with the old fashioned globes to test. Led's will work without much current drain.

If it has electric steering, it could be that when you turn, it is drawing too much power.

Off mechanical topics, but anyone here using some kind of car phone holder in their old Corsa...Do the ones that clip to the airvents actually work? I don't think the dashboard suction cup ones will work?

I was able to check the ground cables and they are all on and secure without anything obscuring them

Thanks man I’ll try this also

This started at the beginning of the month .

The only modification that was done up to this point to the car was the exhaust , an air filter and the most recent installation was sleeveovers which I did in the beginning of this month .

I bought the car June last year with the radio in and I thought that the radio might be taking too much power so i removed it and tested without it just to make sure as well but the issue persists as well

The car has no central locking , no power steering , no sunroof . The only thing that it does have is spotlights which are connected to the park lights so I don’t have a button to turn on the spotlights
