I plan on making my own chocolate stout before the year is over. Plenty of recipes around, just need to convince the wife that the equipment will be worth it...

Oh it's worth it, alright. Does the wifey drink ciders? Because you can brew that too.
 
Yep - I'm planning a kit cider as first run soon-ish.

PS: I must add that I'll need to buy large pots, which is expensive. That's the equipment I'm talking about... :D

Wrong thread... But perfectly acceptable to build a plastic bucket brewery with a few geyser elements. Reckon you could build a functioning brewery for under a grand.

I'm actively posting in the correct thread, so this will be my last one here. I got a full brewery setup, but I need large pots to be able to do all grain brewing. All grain is also what I'll need to do to get a good chocolate stout. From a kit, it'll lose it's body, if it's even possible at all.

Enjoy.... this was at a little pub at a padstal outside Kleinbrakrivier. South Bay Beerhouse, they do craft beer and gin. Always have 5 crafts on tap.

Hmmm ok...might stop there on the way back, thx for that. Anywhere in MBay to get craft beer? Will take a load with but just in case...

Best stocked places are probably two Liquorlands. One in Voorbaai between Mbay & Hartenbos. The other in town if you go down the main road towards the Point on the left hand side.

It's good, brewed by Devils Peak.

Spent an evening with most of the craft brewers in Pretoria on Sat, had some great beers.
