SABC can be broken up and sold under DA plan

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has proposed that the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT), under new minister Solly Malatsi, hold public hearings to decide the fate of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).

The hearings will determine whether the country needs a public broadcaster, and if it does, what form it should take and how it should be financed.

Close it down. Nothing of value will be lost. Or give it to Multichoice as a white elephant. :sneaky:

long time coming it hasn't made moneys for how long now

I would scrap the TV licence then strip the channels down to 3 video and 15 or so radio stations. Funding should then come from advertising which should be easy to get based on the viewership.

One channel should be enough.

2 hours of propaganda news for the masses, and SA made soapies and shows for the rest.

There is no need for any international tv or movies.
People can get Netflix, YouTube etc for that.

Xactly what you say news which they to do and then one or 2 programs

they'll never close a cash gravy train for the ANC, and SOE will never close <-- they need to funnel money someway or another, they tried with suitcases of cash but it ends in disaster.. so the next bet is start a company and pay yourself huge salaries whilst doing nothing <-- that's how the mob does it, so it all looks legit on paper.

there is a reason they haven't closed SAA / transnet / SABC / ESKOM etc etc etc...
