I think an SABC is needed but structure wise it won't survive splitting the company make sense as South Africa is heading down a similar path as the Americans where 60% of households will most likely opt for the internet.

The issue with its current structure is that they're wasting money and running almost like a pay-tv company but with its audience behind on payments.

I think if they leverage it right, SABC+ might be a breakthrough and saving grace for them, since more and more people are moving away from traditional satellite service and towards Internet-based services.
