The December of Linux

I'm holding out for Ubuntu 12.04 - to upgrade from 10.04.

Ubuntu is losing popularity by sticky to the unity interface.

I have never tried another linux other than ubuntu, but I recently tried gnome shell in ubuntu, and even though I am a huge unity fan, im starting to think I may prefer gnome shell. after gnome shell Unity is starting to feel cluttered. you have the first screen of the dash with large and tiny icons that feels like it was designed by an independent team. Then the app menu: you have "most used" which is redundant what with the ability to pin apps to the side bar. You also have the recommended apps that I never look at, leaving very little space for your normal app menu.
The only thing I miss is the way unity docks all the menu bars into the top task bar, freeing up more screen real estate.
I also dont like that gnome shell got rid of the shutdown menu as well as the minimize and maximize buttons- though in all fairness those are simple enough to get back.

If you like Gnome Shell, then i would recommend trying PinguyOS 11.10 (beta--but stable). See how that covers the 'faults' in Ubuntu Gnome Shell.

with the latest updates most of the graphic issues have been sorted out.

Only heard of pinguyOS (silly name) a couple days ago. Sounds like another mint only using gnome shell. Which isn't a bad thing at all. Maybe ill try that next. (it does use gnome shell right?)

It has all the extensions and original GS (not the one from ubuntu); so yes, and it is faster than Ubuntu's GS.
